I'm guessing Joe thought that Trump would make Hunter's life hell in the DOC
This was essentially my first thought as well.

This. I’m guessing almost any other person taking office and he wouldn’t have done it. But you know Trump would go after him for anything they could reasonably claim.
I'd watch that debate, they'd be able to top their dads arguing about their golf handicaps
Pardon covers any potential federal crimes from 2014 to 2024. Smart move to make sure Trump can't touch him.

That was before Harris lost the election. This is just a giant F**k you to everyone out there. I'm not saying it is right, but I would have done the same thing in his position. Trump would have made fun of him for not doing it.
Yes let’s compare Trump’s pardons, including naming his pardoned SiL’s dad ambassador to France, to Biden pardoning his son. If Kamala won, he probably wouldn’t have done it. Freaking pearl clutching republican hypocrites. Never said shit about Trump corruption. Please, let’s compare the 2 sides.
Well, that was the other thing. Getting a pardon to Hunter makes him more qualified to being part of the Trump administration. Trump can make him Ambassador to Tahiti. Trump gets to brag about how bipartisan he is and how he is bringing the country together and then at the same time send him to Tahiti where no one will ever hear from him. Hunter gets to spend 4 years in Tahiti.
Agreed, but on the other hand, you just know that had he not done that, Trump would have had Patel and Bondi go after him for every single thing; the republicans in congress would have had hearings, special investigations, etc.
I don’t really have a problem with this. Hunter is no doubt a scumbag who has grifted off of his father’s career, but at the end of the day the going after family shit has to stop. As for Biden’s pledge not to interfere with doj, well, nobody seriously believed that.
If I was Joe I would pardon every Democrat under the same terms. Give them all a pardon of any potential federal crimes from 2014 to 2024
This is the world the Rs want. Trump said he would imprison the Dems. I would short circuit that nonsense asap if I was Biden.

I got my hopes up when Obama threatened to have his DOJ - if elected - go after Bush & Co. for Iraq war crimes.

Trump is narcissistic and self-aggrandizing. More blatant than most politicians. Womanizer in his younger days. Stormy Daniel’s episode 2006. None since. Let’s see- JFK, rapist and serial abuser in the White House, Bill Clinton, rapist earlier and serial abuser with a 21 y/o in the White House, Joe Biden, credibly accused of past sexual abuse, possibly rape, and a serial woman sniffer😂. Yet I’m sure you bask in the glory of their administrations. Unfortunately moral corruption is pervasive throughout our executive branch’s history. You’re educated. You should know that. A sad fact that our presidents mirror our own moral failings. I voted for Trump because his policies are better for America and far better than the Dems offer. You disagree, fine. We can debate that. Who’s the bigger scumbag? Waste of time arguing over that. But we can’t help it, can we.

Hunters crimes were decidedly worse than Trumps clerical campaign crimes by almost any measure. Yet one gets a pardon.
The thing that stinks about this is that the one and only reason Hunter gets a pardon is he's family. Not because he was wrongly prosecuted or sentenced. Not because he was wrongly convicted. Not because the sentence was out of proportion to the crime. Because he's Joes son. All after Biden said he wouldn't do it.
There are clearly different standards for crimes depending on who you know or who you are.

If Trump was picking serious regular cabinet members, Biden breaking his promise would upset me, but from what I see his nominees are chosen for their dedication to punish anyone associated with opposing him or his actions.
Then he shouldn't have said it.
He also should have asked a favor of trump when trump took office. ‘Consider a pardon for my son’.
That would have made Biden look like he isn't favoring his son but asking for mercy for him. And had Trump not done it it would make him look petty. But instead he simply pardoned him in the biggest display of dishonesty(statements prior) and nepotism in some time.
So? Who is he going to turn in? If s crime really did exist, Joe would just pardon everyone involved.

I would pardon everyone, including myself, if I was Joe. Trump can't be trusted.
