Just curious what you all think on if this team is better without Jok playing. Before everyone freaks out just think about it. Yes, Jok is an amazing offensive player. He is lazy on defense and if he turns it over he just jogs back instead of hustling. To me, I think the younger guys play better together without him. Like I said, I think Jok is a great offensive player, but I just think the team as a whole does things better without him. What do you guys think?

I've said for a while now he needs to come off the bench. No reason for him to start because he either shoots the team into a hole right out of the gate, or picks up a couple cheap fouls and is on the bench for the majority of the 1st half anyway.
Bring his ass off the bench so that teams aren't ready for Jok from the start and have to adjust. Jok is a 2nd half player. Always has been.
Peter Jok is more than capable of dropping 20 on Idiana in the second half. Who else can do that for Iowa? The guy has done nothing put lead the league in scoring and has more 25+ games than anyone else in the BIG10. It used to be amusing when these wannabe basketball experts on this board come on here and jump down Jok's throat when he has a bad (for him) half, but they are no where to be found when he puts the other team in the grave.
I wasn't saying he isn't a great player. There have been many players that are great shooters and that's all they want to do unfortunately. He has good defensive games when he tries hard on defense. I was just curious on other's thoughts on it. I wasn't saying I was an expert.
And he can still do that coming off the bench......but with the benefit of not making all those 1st half mistakes.
Just think how much better we would be then!!
Even the biggest Jok fans have to admit that his defense is just awful.

Love Peter Jok, but he wasn't hustling tonight. He just never looked like he was into the game. The way Indiana was shooting, it probably made no difference. The Hawks have had a decent year for being so young. Better things coming.
exactly, the team will be much better without Jok IMO.
Jok reminds me of last years team. Talent but inconsistent effort. The rest of these young guys bring effort every game and have very short memories. Future is bright.

he was 4 for 11 and 1 for 6 from 3 with 4 TOs in the biggest game of the year. With his usual horrible defensive effort which was called out many times by the announcers. That wont be too hard to replace.
He is a great player who can light up a YMCA game. The second he gets contact and is roughed up a bit, he fades. The most annoying thing is he lets his poor offense dictate how he plays defense which sucks.

We have a low margin of error if Jok Cook and Baer have off games that is a loss
He is great shooter but his lack of athleticism limits what he can do vs aggressive defense and limits his ability to stay in front of guys when he plays defense. He's been fun to watch, good luck to him in his future.
He was off his attitude tonight. Being that it was the biggest game of the year in his senior year, really it's telling. Good guy, great shooter, but we are better next year without him.
As the B1G leading scorer, he sure doesn't get many calls or benefit of doubt. How many free throws did Iowa shoot tonight?
What gets to me the most, well besides his defense is his "care free, i could give crap less if I turn the ball over attitude" at times. That said he won us some games with his shooting.
It's true, he's not a team player. Mock the poster all you want but the ball dies when it's passed to him. The defense is poor at best and one thing every player can do is hustle and he not tonite.

UNBELIEVABLE!! This kid has worked his tail off all year and without him there is no Purdue win and certainly no Indiana win. He has been hand checked to death for the last two months with little to no help from refs. I imagine it just became the height of frustration tonight watching his last chance to be in the NCAA's slip away. Understandable there might of been a little let down in his game tonight.

He was a good offensive player but he was a volume scorer and never maximized his potential as he settled for jump shots.
He's been banged up but 1 thing I will remember about Jok is when he would take a hard foul he would always take longer than normal to get back up. I'm not saying it didn't hurt but he seemed to over dramatize his fouls.

True, but as OP was saying, he truly is lazy on defense and if his shots aren't falling he cares even less....like tonight as a pristine example.
No question the dude is a freaky great shooter, but unless he's playing in the NBA all star game, folks expect him to be able to defend.

Thanks for bringing up the FT shooting. Since he didn't shoot one tonight and we lost, he will not set a new record.
I agree the defense was not always there; however the exhaustive effort Jok had to put in just to get open not to mention constantly creating his own shots probably made it a little difficult to play both ends of the floor equally well.
There were plenty of defensive lapses by everyone to go around.
Indiana was guarding him tightly and he had a bad night. Hey, our leading rebounder, Baer, had NO rebounds. It happens.
Bohannon had a couple of bad turnovers, but he was our only offense at times and had some great post feeds.
Dude, pay attention to the games. He is that bad on D.
He chooses to let guys go by him on regular basis rather than risk a foul.
