When asked why Purdue was winning at half, he said: "They really can wear you down. That's the bottom line. They've got size. They've got versatility. They've some guards that move the ball really well and are a threat from the perimeter and they wear you down. You might think you can stop them at first but eventually the size and the athleticism, the up and down play just takes a toll."

Not vilifying Jon here, but it is good analysis that the Hawks turned on it's ear.

Right, but I think we worn them out with our fast pace and substitutions. The fact that Purdue makes 47% 3s in first half and only 28 in the second half (on average) indicates their bench is not good enough to be able to rest shooters. We took advantage of that in the second half.

I agree with you when we had the final game analysis, at half time he was accurate though. We do have a lot of guys we can put in, a fresh Kriener was the difference or 1 of the main differences in the outcome.

Agree, BTN is legit in their hoops coverage and analysis other then too many non con games being on BTN plus but they have great play by play and analysts.

Bardo just annoys the heck out of me I can't even put my finger on what bothers me, but I generally just turn the sound down when he is announcing.

He had a lot of praise for Iowa after the game. Said he really likes them and is excited about watching the young team grow.

I thought the post game highlights from mike hall etc were lacking. I think the big reason is they had already put them together during the 2nd half assuming that Purdue was going to win.

All they did is just modify the last couple highlights from the end of the game and give iowa a few back pats.

Not really complaining because I get it, it's not easy and they made an assumption. It happens

BTN takes some bashing on this board, and I honestly don't know why. They are still a fairly "young" network, but I think it's an awesome thing for the B1G, and getting better. I would much prefer the game to be on BTN than any other network because the announces know the players so much better.

I think Kriener was the difference + return to mean in 3pt shooting. Iowa had probably its best offensive game of season and also made some improvements on defense and we were still in a dogfight. Purdue is Elite if they shoot 3pt shot like they did in 1st half.

I think Peter Jok was the difference and not just for his 29 points. Did anyone notice that he had 8 -assists? He is still evolving as a complete player and his assists were a huge part of why we were so successful.

Obviously his rebounding has dramatically improved and if he can find the open guys when the other team keys on him - we become a much more dangerous team!

Just my opinion.

Was this the same Crispin that Kingsburry got into a fight with on the sideline a few years ago?

Could've been. I don't remember for sure who it was, but I remember a game in 1996 I think, where Kingsbury gave a PSU player a cheap shot coming down the court.

No, Kingsbury was gone before Jon got to PSU. Might have been his older brother Joe.

Must have been Joe. For some reason I think it might have been an NIT game or something and they got into it on the ground by the scorers table. Probably not any video of it out there but remember Kingsbury probably should have been ejected. Probably would have been if it was today.

Jon or Steve or Dave....my goodness, they are really liking Iowa's play, you cannot blame them and I am really liking them back too for noticing.

Really spot on with their play by play, thoughts and post game analysis. Fran and Pete on the post game interviews were great and if you love the game of BB and played it as Jon and Steve did very well btw, you can't help but love what this Iowa team is doing to date.

Loved Bardo's comment about Nic going into a phone booth and coming out like Superman or commenting "you better check the wood cause there was about 600 lbs of players hitting the floor trying to get that ball". He said nothing like vicious play or can I say Grayson Allen like play, just players playing really hard, getting after it big time...it's the B1G Ten baby.

Love this team too!

But they don't shoot nearly as well in the second half from deep. As was pointed out there is almost a 20% difference from their first to second half shooting on three's. The same thing happened in our game at Purdue. If they had shot as well in the second half of that game, they would have beat us by 50. Its pretty typical for a team to cool off, when their shooting that well, but for it to be a season long trend, maybe an issue for Painter.

There's a flow in a lot of the games Iowa plays--even when Iowa doesn't win. It's not the hack-fest type of basketball that the B10 has been for the past, what, 15 years? There's real offensive skill being displayed by multiple players on the floor throughout the game. I love Fran's style and it's clear to me that his style requires all players on the court to have a certain level of skill and athleticism in order to keep that liquid-like movement going continuously. The game actually looks beautiful when each team brings that type of skill and talent to the game. If the game ever got back to what it was in the 1970s, early 1980s (when they called what are today considered "touch fouls") then we'd see even more beautiful basketball being played and thuggish rebounder types wouldn't see many minutes at all. You'd need speed, quickness, conditioning, handles, scoring ability, sweet stroke, vision and passing abilities, and constantly moving feet. None of the inside wrestling for position and rebounds that has dominated the game since ... well, I guess the late 80s Detroit Pistons and, in the B10, Izzo's Michigan State teams.

True enough, but that was also one of the most physical games I've seen in sometime. A lot of hawks with body parts in ice buckets and whirlpools after that one.

No, Joe Crispin was at Penn State from '97-'98 through '00-'01. As you probably know, Kingsbury was at Iowa from '93-'94 through '95-'96. A couple of Penn State guards from that time period ('94-'96) were Dan Earl and Pete Lisicky. It might have been one of those two guys.

Kingsbury threw Dan Earl to the court in front of Dr Tom

I seen him out shoping once in LaCrosse Wi

When he played for the CBA Catbirds

He was fricking huge

It was physical in spots, but there was still a lot of beautiful offensive skill displayed by both teams throughout. It wasn't like defense wasn't being played, just really high level offensive playing (TEAM BASKETBALL) by both sides, but a bit more by Iowa.
