Jon Miller podcast nailed the minutes issue today. Big problem.

I was thinking his sophomore and junior years when the team was deeper. I'm pretty sure those years, splitting with Hill, Lorenzen, even to some degree Lohaus, Horton's minutes were right around 20 mpg.

correct and in his senior year Bullard was lost for half of the season due to injury which also spiked Horton's minutes.

No biggie. In a nice post expressing tons of good thoughts, it was missing one thing. "future" All Big Ten Ed Horton.

The resident fact checker has a job to do. :) He got you because you missed one word.

Bullard's injury always bothered me. If I remember correctly, wasn't he injured in the closing minutes of a game we had well in hand? He should have been resting at the end of the bench.

This is absolutely not a "big problem". This is a wonderful result of some good recruiting and having players that want to stay at Iowa. I don't want guys to leave the program, but I'm not going to worry about it.

For years the fans have been begging for this, and now it's a problem? I swear, one day the Hawks will somehow end up with 3 Elite PG's, and somebody will call it a "problem".

I agree. Players minutes will have to be earned.

He went through what he thought would be likely minutes for each player.

He then added all of those minutes up and he was still over the maximum possible minutes by quite a bit. I want to say like 40 minutes over.

He then subtracted out what it would look like if Maishe daily, Ahmad Wagner and Dom Uhl didnt play a single minute and they were STILL over on minutes

This is going to be a major problem. And it gets even worse next year

Having too many good players that need minutes isn't a problem.

Jon Miller is pretty good at stating the obvious.

The minutes will sort themselves out. At some point coaching staff will realize that the top 8-9 guys are better than the next 4-5 on the roster even when they have played 20 minutes in the game.
