Just 14% of Americans have received the updated covid vaccine.

Apparently he doesn't need the vaccine to protect from severe illness or death.
Statistically speaking, you're spot on.

5-10% of the population has a "severe illness" due to COVID-19. Of that 5-10% 90% have comorbidities which caused it:

Common comorbidities associated with severe COVID-19 include:
  • Cardiovascular diseases (e.g., hypertension, heart disease)
  • Diabetes
  • Chronic respiratory diseases (e.g., COPD, asthma)
  • Obesity
  • Kidney disease
I have none of those. Conversely, my MIL has ALL of the above, therefore the vaccine is critical for her survival.

This isn't hard. Big Pharma LOVES you guys, though.

I saw a report over the weekend that the number of school-age children not vaccinated for various things has grown tremendously in the past few years. They get exemptions somehow and don't even have measles vaccine, etc. That doesn't seem good.

Yep.

Measles is making a comeback because of anti-vaxxers

Measles is making a comeback, in large part because of how poorly the covid response and associated mandates were handled.
I told people in important positions years ago the mandates would backfire, and would result in lower vaccination rates long term, and a loss of trust by the community. I was right, and many of the people in charge of the response at the time, have since quit and moved on to different positions, or moved away.
Now they have a lot of work to do to win people back. And, it's going to take a long time.

This is so ****ing stupid. It’s like invading Iraq because some guys from Afghanistan attacked your country.

Look at the vaccination rate data before and after covid. There is a reason the unvaccinated rates are rising...directly on the heels of a massive pandemic.

Let's see...the government mandated that you get an emergency use designated vaccination, which has proven to be wildly ineffective, and unpopular with the public, when they were allowed to make their own choices. And, some can't figure out why rates are falling.

The Pope disagrees. Just saying since you're on the Knights of Columbus.

I'm not anti-vax. Just anti-your-vax. The Pope has no way of know what's best for my health. That article is 2 years old. It also said the vaccine is acceptable, which isn't a moral imperative. Yes, two years ago many thought the vaccine prevented infection and spread, which turned out to not be true except during a very narrow time window.

I’d suggest it’s more like your neighbor comes over offering to help you with a big project and you trust his judgement. It ends up taking a lot longer, costing more and gets unnecessarily complicated. You finish it, but it was a major cluster f*ck with lots of collateral damage. Next time he comes over with a suggestion you’re going to be a little more hesitant to take his advice.

Does that apply to Trump threads?

Eight and a half years of non-stop bitching about the guy - just vote for him or don’t.

Brian is going to post about this every week it seems, so I guess you’ll get to keep reading the same people saying the same things.

I don't.

I try to live by probability. That's all one can do.
Exactly, and my doctor (who I trust more than you) told me he is “data driven” and based on my age/individual health status, he didn’t highly recommend the Covid booster for me. In the past, he recommended I get the shingles vaccine and tetanus shot…so I got both of those.

Regarding the flu vaccine…I’ve never gotten one in my life. My doctor said that based on my age…I have lived through two major flu outbreaks. Since I’ve never suffered any significant flu symptoms, I’ve likely built up a basic level of flu immunity; therefore, I elected to not get a flu shot. However, as I age, I may get a flu shot.

Your doctor didn't "highly" recommend you get vaxxed?

Did he recommend it?
