Just 14% of Americans have received the updated covid vaccine.

Yes

But you reduce the likelihood of becoming infected and re-infecting others; thus providing greater protection to those who cannot be vaccinated due to organ transplant, auto-immune disorders, cancer treatment, etc.

So horrible that you have to spend 5 minutes getting a tiny needle stick to help protect those folks, ain't it?
Joe,
What happened to Covid? It seems it disappeared!
😂

Depends how long the myocarditis lasts, how many blood clots form, and how many miscarriages you have

Cued to the graph of interest, so pause it there and take a look.

Surges around the beginning of August and the New Year look pretty regular to me.

  • Back to school season
  • Winter holiday months

Seems pretty logical this will continue for the foreseeable future; the main concern is whether the new mutations/variants will become more or less virulent over time.

The reality that Covid has found multiple mammalian reservoirs to spread in means it's not going away. And those crossover events are what will be most concerning.

Human behavior, new variants, waning immunity.

If 2 surges per yer are the norm, shouldn't there be 2 booster seasons a year just before them?

Will there be support for booster if the GOP takes over?

Is there support for boosters now? People have, for the most part, gone back to normal. A small percentage get boosters as they come out.

I get them, even though I’m sick for about 48 hours after each one.

My assistant coach had it last month. He got it from people who visited who believe they brought it back from Ireland. It knocked the shit out of him. He is unvaxxed. And he recovered after about 4 days. But said it was rough 4 days for sure.

I meant government support. I worry that the ability of people who want the boosters to get them or be able to afford them could be eroded.

Having been slammed by boosters every time I got an mRNA version, I was not slammed the last 2 times when I was able to track down the Novavax jab. I recommend trying it.

Two advantages, 2 disadvantages. Novavax doesn't hit you hard; and no worries about possible long-term adverse effects from the mRNA part - which may or may not be a real thing. Vs slightly lower efficacy (about 5% less, the last time I read anything); and harder to find.

Here's a study Joe's place doesn't want you to read

The median IFR considering available data from fully representative general population studies was 0.0009% at 0–19 years, 0.012% at 20–29 years, 0.035% at 30–39 years, 0.109% at 40–49 years, 0.34% at 50–59 years, and 1.07% at 60–69 years without accounting for seroreversion (loss of antibodies over time in previously infected individuals). Including also convenience sample studies (and again without accounting for seroreversion) the respective age groups median IFR estimates were 0.001%, 0.010%, 0.023%, 0.050%, 0.15%, and 0.49% (Axfors and Ioannidis, 2022).

IFR at 0.1%, for parents at 40-49 years, is actually very very high....

That's 1 in 1000 dead.

Just got over covid. I’ve gotten the vax every year and this was my second time with a confirmed case. It was a complete nothing burger compared to my first bout. Had very mild head cold symptoms for 4 days, then they went away completely. No lingering cough. One minute I was sneezing, the next it was gone.

Net net it was way less impactful than a typical winter cold. No idea how much the vaccine contributed to the mild symptoms but I was happy with the outcome. I’ll probably skip this fall’s vaccine since I had the real thing, but will get one next year.

Having previously had covid, it's impossible to tell if your body's natural immune response or the magic juice deserves the most praise...

I don’t think the GOP would discontinue the yearly Covid boosters. They’ve never did with flu or any other vaccines.

Never. They line up alongside the Dems every year to collect $$ from pharmaceutical lobbyists.
That's why Dems just passed legislation - with NO help from the GOP - enabling Medicare to negotiate drug pricing, just like other Western countries do....

Who you elect, matters.

Vaxxed 3 is out on Rumble. Trump was spared criticism for the disastrous rollout but otherwise a very powerful movie.

Vaxxed 3 is out on Rumble. Trump was spared criticism for the disastrous rollout but otherwise a very powerful movie.

TL;DW Summary:

The documentary Vaxxed 3: Authorized to Kill examines controversial perspectives on COVID-19 vaccine safety and hospital protocols during the pandemic. Produced by Children’s Health Defense, the film includes personal stories from people across the United States who allege severe side effects or deaths following COVID-19 vaccinations. It also explores claims of harmful hospital treatments for COVID-19 patients. Over a nine-month journey, the filmmakers collected testimonies from families, healthcare professionals, lawyers, and advocates, attempting to raise awareness of perceived risks associated with vaccine mandates and hospital protocols during the COVID-19 response.

Children's Health Defense (CHD):

CHD is a non-profit organization founded by Robert F. Kennedy Jr. in 2016, primarily focusing on issues it sees as related to vaccine safety, environmental toxins, and public health policies. CHD's mission emphasizes advocacy against practices it believes endanger children’s health, especially highlighting concerns around vaccine mandates and environmental pollutants.

Though it claims non-partisanship, CHD is widely associated with stances that resonate with conservative and libertarian circles due to its opposition to government-mandated vaccination programs and the Food and Drug Administration’s (FDA) role in approving vaccines. This alignment has been more prominent during the COVID-19 pandemic, where CHD voiced strong opposition to COVID-19 vaccine requirements, a stance that paralleled those in some right-leaning political groups. Despite this, Robert F. Kennedy Jr., a prominent figure in the Democratic Party, has made recent independent bids for office, complicating straightforward partisan alignment.

CHD’s activities have sparked criticism from major public health organizations, which argue that its messaging spreads vaccine misinformation. However, the group maintains that its advocacy is based on concerns over individual health freedom and government transparency

I would have checked it out if it was a half hour, but 2 hours is too much for me.

Can you give us some bullet points?

Bullet points are something an AI should be able to do if there's a transcript. Or can it? And could it do it from the video directly? Eventually, I'm sure, but now?

Is this from AI?

I remember asking you (I think) about that previously and if it was you I asked, I'd very much appreciate info on which AIs you like and how you get good results from them.

Just like with the other Vaxxed movies, the producers tour the country in a large bus, meeting people with stories of being harmed by vaccines.

To me, it was less tear jerker and more ‘finger-pointerish’ at the people who screwed up (in their opinion) the covid response. Too many commercials to put up with if you’re not a subscriber, imo.

Oh....they will...

They're already pushing for exemptions on measles, etc....
I actually don't think they will either, but they will let them cost 3 times more to give (as long as they kick a tribute up to the guy in charge).

Correct.

My position is with you ALWAYS needing to correct people and your incessant need to be right about everything. WWJD asked about 2019 masking, distancing, etc. and I responded that I have zero opinion on that aspect as it wasn't the point of my post.

Seriously, you act like I just pulled it out of thin air. We saw articles like the ones below and thought, "Dang, dude, you think that may have been what we had?" ...and then here you come:

Do you get kick-backs from Big Pharma or something?

So . . . should we stop calling it the Wuhan flu and start calling it the Mississippi flu?

My new conspiracy theory is that we engineered SARS-CoV-2 here in the US and then dropped it in the wet market in Wuhan to test it out. And the rest is history.

No idea. Wouldn't comment if I had an opinion ...I'd only get corrected by the "experts".

Why are most Americans anti-vaxxers?

It baffles me.
They are? A quick google says 10-20% of Americans, resting at around 17%. Still high, but certainly not "most."

Pew Research:

Estimates of anti-vaccine sentiment among Americans generally place vaccine hesitancy between 10% and 20%, depending on the definition and specific vaccines in question. COVID-19 vaccines, for example, faced skepticism from about 10% of adults who expressed resistance or refusal, even after widespread availability. Additionally, attitudes toward childhood vaccinations reflect a similar range, with recent surveys indicating that around 17% of parents are hesitant or resistant to vaccinating their children with standard vaccines, like MMR (measles, mumps, rubella) and DTaP (diphtheria, tetanus, and pertussis).

The reasons for this hesitancy vary and include concerns about vaccine safety, side effects, and, in some cases, general distrust of health authorities or pharmaceutical companies. Political and ideological beliefs also play a role in attitudes toward vaccination, with differences seen between political affiliations and age groups, as younger adults and Republicans tend to report higher levels of vaccine resistance compared to other demographics.

Most Americans are not anti-vaxxers. That would be a good starting point for you to become un-baffled.

Most Americans aren't getting the covid boosters or flu shots.

I'd call that anti-vaccine.
