Justice Alito's home flew flag upside down after Trump's 'Stop the Steal' claims, report says

I'd be happy to engage in dialogue but not when you make a false assertion about me.
The problem is though that we are trying to find a "truth" assertion about you. So far that has not been possible. You can't even answer simple questions about your beliefs.

Wife's car.
You just don't get it, do you?

We have a couple of SCOTUS justices and their spouses, that still believe that the 2020 election was stolen, even though there have been over 60 cases presented to our nation's courts that prove otherwise.

What's it going to take for people like you? A successful coup?

It failed, BTW.

It's a ****ing joke moran. He's using the wife as an excuse. So this must be his wife's car.

Nevermind.

I'll "nevermind" once this ass-hat and his followers are dispensed into the dustbin of history. The consequences are too severe.

Thank you.

I thought it was funny and I hate the Alito situation.

Guys, the truly important things are whether the (black, African) President wears a flag lapel pin.

I thought we just recently, once again reaffirmed the right of peaceful protest?,.. Flying any flag, in any position, is probably the least confrontational form of protest available to an American,.. Last time I checked the Alito's are still American citizens,... Totally unconcerned.

Of course they do.

Just as those who disagree with their protest can point out that one of the protestors is a sitting Supreme Court Justice, and instead of projecting an appearance of impartiality, decided to adopt two symbols of support for 1/6 participants while ruling on 1/6 related cases.

This isn’t a First Amendment issue. But you know that.

I’d prefer my Supreme Court justices at least present as somewhat objective - especially when there are cases in front of the Court that directly relate to the 2020 election and its direct aftermath.

So you would have no problem if, in their right to protest and for free speech, one of the SC Justices flew the Nazi flag and spoke openly about eradicating Jews?

And to think of the outrage about kneeling for the National Anthem. SMFH

Total impartiality is not a requirement and likely not achievable,.. You think RBG entered the court with a blank slate of impartiality?...

Nobody is asking for total Impartiality.

That’s not the standard and is impossible to achieve.

The general standard is appearance of bias.

I’d suggest that ruling on 1/6 matters while flying those two flags meets that standard.

Didn’t you want Willis DQ’d in Georgia by that same standard?

No, I would have to disagree,.. Those two flags are little more than a public indicator of a personally held belief, which is not the same as personal bias,... Everyone carries personal beliefs. Pretending they don't exist doesn't make them non-existent.

Willis earned disqualification due to her poor personal choices and misuse of funds

We can disagree.

I happen to believe if you are a Justice and trying to avoid the appearance of bias, that it’s a poor personal choice to fly those two flags.

Wait, you see no issues with two justices who have shown to side or believe that the election was stolen to sit on the case deciding if this guy is immune from trying to overturn the election??? Talk about a hand on the scale.

Oh, I can agree with that,.. Were I a Justice, I would certainly defer from such public displays. But that doesn't mean that Alito has to follow my approach,.. I never owned a leisure suit, even though they were quite popular back in the day,.. I was eventually proven correct on that one also.

I'd venture to say that every one of our current justices already carry a personal belief regarding whether or not the last election was stolen. Not talking about one's beliefs does not make them non-existent,.. Appears to me that there will be nine hands on the scale...

I agree but once you go public with those biases you need to step aside for a case that involves the very subject.

Why?,.. What about the eight other justices who have personal opinions that aren't made public?

Ummmm. They’re savvy enough to not let their personal opinions become public????

So you believe that having no indicator of where another justice stands makes them automatically fair, unbiased and acceptable?...

Not at all. The goal should be the appearance of objectivity and lack of bias.

Alito clearly doesn’t GAF at this point and is comfortably established in his “old man yells at cloud” jurisprudence. I guess I’m the naive one here who doesn’t think that’s real good for optics. But what do I know?

They are supposed to remain impartial so how the hell would you want someone openly supporting the very thing you are on trial for? If I was a defendant and had a judge who was openly for something I was up against I wouldn’t want them passing their bias onto my case. If they aren’t smart enough to keep their bias under wraps they aren’t smart enough to be on the case to begin with. Shows a complete lack of judgement.
