Keegan 80 percent from 3

There 4 others I can think of besides Keegan to score 1,000 in two years.
@Suterman & @perryhawk , who am I missing?

And note below the games played and ppg.

Iowa has had some scorers, man!

Sam Williams...1,176 (2 yrs: 1967-1968, 49 GP, .466 FG%, 24 ppg)

John Johnson...1,172 (2 yrs: 1969-1970, 49 GP, .543 FG%, 23.9 ppg)

Fred Brown...1,091 (2 yrs: 1970-1971, 48 GP, .501 FG%, 22.7 ppg)

Reggie Evans...1,054 (2 yrs: 2001-2002, 69 GP, .486 FG%, 15.3 ppg; 1 three point goal)
Thanks. Assumed others but before my time. Evans was only one I could think of from dr Tom era and beyond. Impressive is all of those guys didn’t have 3pt shot and still accomplished it.

Or excited, or happy, or bummed, or stoked, or flustered or overjoyed or sad. He just exists in his opponent’s nightmares
It's like don't give a shit is his mind set. Until you watch him play and you realize, no, that ain't it.

Keegan was an assassin today. A major reason why we stuck around and were able to get the W. Incredible to shoot 80% with that volume.

Keegan Murray...1,006 pts (2 yrs: 2021-2022, 64 GP, .545 FG%, 15.7 ppg; 79 three pt goals)

I've gone from thinking he can have a nice NBA career to thinking he will be one of the top 2 or 3 players on his team a couple years from now. And he has the skills and versatility to be successful playing with pretty much anyone in any system.

I thought I had a sense of his ceiling a few games ago, but I don't know. I mean, he's progressed throughout the season, so much so that he's basically a machine now. He can score from anywhere on the floor. And seemingly excel at scoring from each of those spots. I'm not sure what his weakness is or if he actually has any. He's definitely going to be the highest floor player in this year's draft. And his ceiling, I don't know.

With his relentlessness, he could just keep progressing and progressing. Sounds like he has a Garza-like work ethic, but he's got a Keegan body with the smoothest athleticism I have ever witnessed in an Iowa basketball player. He has an all-around game and looks smooth in every position. And then, defensively, you never really see the ball in the hands of the guy he's defending. And he's an eraser that doesn't foul (usually) under the basket, blocking the shots of taller players regularly and making guards think twice before barreling in. It's almost a gift when a guard drives and Murray is near. Turns into a missed layup, blocked shot, turnover, or (if they're smart) a kickout.

Anyway, the guy is light's out, the best college basketball player I have watched in a long time (sorry Garza). I don't think his ceiling is predictable yet.

Yeah, it all comes back to "smooth". I keep trying to describe him but it always comes back to smooth. A smoothness beyond imagining. And really, Kris does the same thing even if not quite at Keegan's level. Just unimaginably smooth. Absolutely blows me away.

I think the difference between Keegan and Kris is partially confidence, but he also doesn't have Keegan's relentlessness. We're talking about how similar they are in many ways, but the mental aspect of their games is what separates them most at this point. And Keegan seems to be an alien who can see what's going to happen three seconds before everyone else sees it. His court positioning is ridiculous and that's on top of being smooth. He's got it all.

With his cool demeanor never getting too emotional, elite defender who can basically guard anyone and such an efficient scorer who makes it look so easy he reminds me a lot of kawahi Leonard.

Just thinking the other day, I've been watching Iowa basketball since whenever they started televising it back in the 50s and I cannot remember ever getting as much pure joy from watching a player as I have this season from Keegan. It just blows me away what the guy does and mostly how he does it. So smooth and seemingly effortless. He's taking an easy jog down the court and then you realize he's outsprinting everybody. Kris is a lot the same if not at the same level. They just kinda glide around.
I always though Ray Thompson was silky smooth back in the day, obviously not on the same talent level as KM though...

Keegan looked real good in the non conference portion of our schedule. Then when the big ten games began he elevated his game and continued to show improvement. Now that the B1G tournament is here, he has elevated his game once again. He truly is a phenomenal player.

Did TJD score from beyond 5 feet? He had plenty of dunks and layups while Keegan was firing 8 of 10 from three-point range. There's little comparison between Keegan and ANY other player in the BIG or the nation. After being snubbed by his own conference, it wouldn't shock me if Keegan were named the National Player of the Year--because he is.
no, and it's why he's been in college his whole career and not in the league. TJD is a terrific college player. Iowa had no answer for him inside, most teams do not. But NBA is a different game.

We are biased as Iowa fans, but there isn't a better college player than KM. Stop with the comparisons to Johnny Davis. Just stop. Murray is at 23 points a game, shooting 41% on 3's, 73% from the line, 8.6 rebounds a game. Davis is at 19.7 points a game, 32% from 3. Murray is also leading the country in most of the advanced metrics, whether it's Win Shares, PER, etc.

And what a contrast to our our NPOTY from last year. I loved watching Luka for all the the effort and hard work it took for him to be the player he was. He was such a lunch pale blue collar player. He was every man who became a star. Now we have KM who has NO doubt worked very hard on his craft, yet he makes it seem so effortless. Very contrasting players and yet both so much fun to watch blossom.

I can’t tell you how much fun it is watching the two of them play on the floor together. What a blessing. And only sophomores, hopefully we get one more year.

Got 1,000 career points when he got his 26th pt today. Unreal to do it in 2 years especially considering his min last year. Reggie evans other guy I could think of who did it only playing 2 years at Iowa.

Sam Williams, John Johnson and Fred Brown all outscored Reggie in 2 years each.

Hah! I love the "Keegan as alien" reference. Sounds about right actually.

Yeah, you think he's got to have a ceiling but where is it?
