Anybody else think he wouldn’t have had to rally late to beat the Oregon St back-up at 165?Better start eating because he ain’t getting 174…
Schriever sebrect is all yearIt was mentioned his 2-match suspension should be fulfilled after today’s dual. Does that apply to Siebrecht too?
Not by last years results he couldn’t.I think Kennedy can beat Wittlake too so wouldn’t be giving away 174 just yet
I believe Schriever and Kennedy are only out a few meets.Schriever sebrect is all year
I agree with this but it’s going to be tough to keep him off the mat if he’s the best option for us at 174. He could also redshirt next year if Nelson Brands comes back.gabe is a beast but i still think he could benefit from a redshirt. also 174 clears out a ton after this year. most of the top 10 graduates
Rally late? SMDHAnybody else think he wouldn’t have had to rally late to beat the Oregon St back-up at 165?
Yes.Anybody else think he wouldn’t have had to rally late to beat the Oregon St back-up at 165?
OK then, anybody think PK would’ve been down 6-1 at any point vs the Oregon St backup? I vote for no.Rally late? SMDH
I wouldn’t mind if it meant coming out guns blazing and pushing the pace the entire match.OK then, anybody think PK would’ve been down 6-1 at any point vs the Oregon St backup? I vote for no.
Wrestling Gabe in March would be a poor decision for Gabe. Let 175 clear out this year and put him in the lineup with a much better team in 2024-2025.Better start eating because he ain’t getting 174…
Too many double negatives for me to follow what anyone is saying in this thread……OK then, anybody think PK would’ve been down 6-1 at any point vs the Oregon St backup? I vote for no.
It’s the best decision period with Nelson likely coming back.Wrestling Gabe in March would be a poor decision for Gabe. Let 175 clear out this year and put him in the lineup with a much better team in 2024-2025.
You’re asking the wrong question. Kennedy majoring some random backup early in the year that Caliendo didn’t shouldn’t be a determining factor in lineup decisions. Caliendo flat out having a higher ceiling should. It’s one freaking match. Kennedy could have easily lost a first period scramble to that same kid.Anybody else think he wouldn’t have had to rally late to beat the Oregon St back-up at 165?
Good thing matches aren't over after 2 counter TDs.OK then, anybody think PK would’ve been down 6-1 at any point vs the Oregon St backup? I vote for no.
I think we have a great shot at a team trophy if we end up with a Ferrari at 149 and 197, and Ben Keuter at HWT. Who knows if that will all happen though.Caliendo is pretty slick. That OSU kid had some **** to him. I thought outside of 74, that was the best match of the afternoon. The match really wasn't as close as the final score however, The Hawks have a ton of work ahead of them if they want a team trophy come March.
I don’t think Gabe gets beat in the room next year if he competes this season. And we need that level of talent to be successful.I agree with this but it’s going to be tough to keep him off the mat if he’s the best option for us at 174. He could also redshirt next year if Nelson Brands comes back.
Having a lot of talented guys is a good problem to have. 😎
I should know this but I don't, has Keuter seen the field this year for Kirk?I think we have a great shot at a team trophy if we end up with a Ferrari at 149 and 197, and Ben Keuter at HWT. Who knows if that will all happen though.
No, not that I’m aware of.I should know this but I don't, has Keuter seen the field this year for Kirk?

Nope.gabe is a beast but i still think he could benefit from a redshirt. also 174 clears out a ton after this year. most of the top 10 graduates
I think Drake will be fine, too. Kaylor is a former AA, not a terrible wrestler at allAgree with this so much. I liked what I saw from Caliendo personally
Him and a few others on the team gotta clean it up and finish/win some of those scrambles but I’m so sick of watching guys that are afraid to give up any points. Especially this early in the year.
Giving up a takedown isn’t the end of the world - just go get the next one. Just like he did. Loved how he responded. Even losing like Drake did isn’t the end of the world. It’s November. He’ll be fine. Just my opinion anyway
This got me as well. My response was as all wrong…. I read it as “would have”. My bad @so cal hawkfan , I totally misread the context of your post. We agree.Too many double negatives for me to follow what anyone is saying in this thread……
I'm guessing he is just as tall or taller than Arnold.174 is where you really see guys that have significant height. I think this will be a problem for kennedy
Right? Was thinking the same thing. HAS to be taller than Gabe.I'm guessing he is just as tall or taller than Arnold.
This is the correct response imo. It’s November before Thanksgiving. Lots of room and time to peak.Agree with this so much. I liked what I saw from Caliendo personally

If Gabe grows 3inches or more he would be a big 197 with his buildRight? Was thinking the same thing. HAS to be taller than Gabe.
I wouldn’t mind if it meant coming out guns blazing and pushing the pace the entire match.
I’m a bit concerned when our stud that we are banking on to score points struggles with a guy who is now 17-17 in his collegiate career.Good thing matches aren't over after 2 counter TDs.
That’s where I’m at…I want to see action so we know what happens if/when? I hate handfighting until the third and then running into “Oh shit” moments that wouldn’t exist if we would have gotten on our offense earlier. This is the correct response imo. It’s November before Thanksgiving. Lots of room and time to peak.
Im not upset with Caliendo pushing the pace and giving up a few counter takedowns. If you have confidence in your offense that’s just something that’s gonna happen from time to time. I also think he wrestled a hard 7 minutes and making his opponent consistently counter and defend made the takedowns easier to come by in the third.
If Drake pushed the pace like Caliendo did I bet he wins late in the third. But again it’s November and I’m not going to get worked up just yet.
And if flies had machine guns frogs wouldn’t fu** with them. I think Gabe’s growing days are behind him so let’s plan the future without the 3 extra inches…or more.If Gabe grows 3inches or more he would be a big 197 with his build
Correct by one inch according to the roster but one looks small for 165 and the other is built like brick $h!t house. When’s the last time you said “man, kennedy needs to go up a weight”I'm guessing he is just as tall or taller than Arnold.
So funny to me PK is small he should be a 157. Now it's be needs to gain weight he can't be 174 . Caliendo is the best 165 Iowa has. That was already determinedCorrect by one inch according to the roster but one looks small for 165 and the other is built like brick $h!t house.
