Kirk apologists... sell me on why he should stay past this year?

Do you want to go back to the 1960s and ‘70s?

Tsk tsk. Be careful what you wish for. Iowa could easily be on the wrong end of some of these 10-6 barn burners against Illinois and Northwestern. We can’t afford to take that risk.

If Kirk is still alive at 90, I want him on the sidelines. I don’t care if he is drooling into a bib while rolling out of the tunnel in a mobility scooter. He could still be scribbling on index cards while shitting into Depends, chomping bubble gum while punting on 3rd and inches from the opponent’s 33 yard line, and I would still want him coaching at Iowa.

Do you really want to turn into Nebraska?

I didn’t think so.
if that is from the heart, i agree. i could see him incorporating lessons from the distant past that nobody else remembers with cutting edge ideas and assemble a loyal staff to pull off a championship by 2042

It wasn’t clear from the way you wrote it.

I like KF, so I am not going to address that. But if you don't think things are going to get rough next year after our entire defense is gutted, you might want to think again. Better get an offense, because the days of the defense winning games for us is going to take a step back. We lose almost all production and Phil is good and maybe it will just be a lull and not a full on rebuild, but it is going to sting either way. How much of our offensive line is done after this year?

Look, we could have Nick Saban on the sidelines and we would still not have the ability to lineup and play winning football against the roster OSU has.
Vandy just beat Bama and it didn't happen by playing anything that looks like Kirkball. Not saying it can be a regular thing but ever since the 21 BTC beat down from Michigan Kirk has been getting embarrassed by good teams with his approach. You have to adapt and Kirk is totally incapable of that

That said, Kirk will be leaving completely on his terms so there's just no point in bringing up any other possibility

Too bad football isn't like martial arts where the more ancient style is better. Cuz then we would have the natty secured year after year.

Everything you wrote is 100% the truth.

Iowa is no longer going to be competitive against top teams playing Kirk ball. It’s just not going to happen. No, Iowa is not going to win a majority of games against top ten teams regardless, but right now they have little chance of even being competitive. That’s the problem.

Iowa fans aren't going to contribute to Iowas NIL as long as Ferentz refuses to let go of the offensive reins. Fans are sick and tired of crummy conservative offenses and the same worn out excuses.

Exactly. This is why people complaining about others not contributing to Swarm are baseless. Even if we did all pay, regardless of amount, does anyone really think Kirk would use the money properly? Hell, the people we know that have been purchased don't even play or have played too much because they're not even worth whatever amount was spent on them.

Sorry, I'm just not going to trust a guy with "donations" that can't even figure out that he should be playing Charlie Jones more or that he should utilize Hockenson and Fant to spread out a defense properly or how to evaluate a QB after 50+ years of experience or that everyone is right about his son and he shouldn't be an OC right away. The list goes on and on with examples. People can think highly about the guy all they want, I'd expect the worst coach at any level of college football, to be able to see things that I, a regular fan, can't. It shouldn't be the other way around.

He's a good man but damn, he's a horrible game/clock manager with very limited understanding of how to use his personnel properly. Yeah, no thanks on donating my limited funds. Maybe KF should start donating to it more. He probably has more than enough to make a dent in NIL.

Vandy beat #1 Bama and Indiana is 6-0 with a brand new coach.

And here we are, in year 26, hoping Iowa can put ANY points on the board - even if just in garbage time - and keep the final score deficit around 20 against highly ranked opponents.

I was just hoping to keep it within 17. Alas...

Kirk’s suspension gave us a glimpse that it will be ok without him. Someone on the staff will get the promotion & do a good job of keep the program winning, while trying to upgrade with the rest of the cfb world.

The AD has no control over him. It’s bad. If he had any respect for the Iowa program, he’d retire at the end of the year.

Just think, KF felt it necessary to self-report and self-suspend for recruiting and landing an injury-riddled QB from the portal who got injured even more in his first season with Iowa and now he keeps playing this lackluster shell of a player because of his need to prove he knows more about the sport than his critics.

Year 26, and we've got a stubborn grumpy old man who knows he can keep cashing checks by playing the game like it was done so a century ago.

Beth really needs to step up and urge to KF the need to be led out to pasture.

I truly think if Kirk had Ohio State's personnel we'd still have two losses

Hopefully, "his terms", is November 30th. He can't be liking this new age of having to buy the best team.

People will say that you're only saying this right now because of the OSU loss too. That's what's so aggravating about it all. No, it's been the last two decades of evidence telling us this. This display is only the most recent iteration that has hundreds of volumes.

How can anyone that claims to be objectively viewing Iowa football not come to this conclusion? KF is a problem.

That's true for everyone outside of Texas or Georgia. That's why Saban retired. He literally attributed his retirement, in large part, due to NIL. Not even Alabama will be able to keep up believe it or not. Poor state with poor alumni.

Beth really needs to step up? Really?

How about the fans like you step up and join SWARM.

Only the Oregon's (Nike) and the Arkansas' (Wal Mart) types of the world will be able to continually compete at the highest levels in the bidding wars when it comes to using NIL to 'buy' the best team from both HS and transfer portal recruiting.

Don't ever doubt Phil and the defense. Might not be an elite defense, but I guarantee it'll be a top 25 defense.

The Swarm is never going to get enough funds to compete. Tough to get people to join when the football and basketball teams can’t win when it matters. If this year ends up being a mediocre one, expect some fans to drop out. Ferentz fatigue goes further than the game itself.

Yep, need people to be excited about SOMETHING.

Seeing an offense play for punts vs scoring is going to keep $$$$ away

A new coach would probably see a large increase in funds

Unless we hire from current staff

I think there is more than enough talent out there to pick from, Iowa doesn't need a new roster of 100+ players brought in. I would guess a SWARM membership of 20,000 would bring in enough to NIL money to secure enough gunslingers to bring Iowa in the discussion of being a top challenger in the conference year end and out.

That's a losers mentality, SWARM was created to help Iowa get competitive, lack of membership has kept Iowa from getting competitive.

If Iowa was winning when it mattered you and your like minded group would be saying, "why join things are going good".

But I don’t think we should fire him.

For reference I would much much much rather suffer for 2 or 3 years than deal with this shit for one more game. Go!
Because Iowa is a 8-4/7-5 program. Absolutely their identity since Hayden. Highs are good and the lows suck but Iowa is not and will not be a blueblood.
