Kirk confirmed back next year & beyond

I will bet the ranch the new OC is Budmayr.
Here’s the wager I’m willing to make: You can do some research, and pick the 12 guys you think are most likely to be hired as Kirk’s OC. You get those 12 guys. I’ll take the field. I’d be willing to wager good money on that bet.

He was talking to Dolph on the midweek radio show that despite the number of people that will be disappointed, he plans on returning for next year and maybe more. He made the announcement in his usual passive aggressive manner. In any event, he mentioned that his health was good and he loved what he was doing, for the most part, and planned to keep doing it. He took a shot at the NCAA and NIL and all the recent changes in the sport that he doesn't like. Unfortunately, these things are the sport right now and I hope he learns to at least utilize them, if not embrace them or we will be left behind.
I believe he has fully embraced them

Yep. These last few days have made it very clear who needs to be ignored. Singlet is one of them.
Wrong. Gotta love a bunch of "fans" who probably don't even own a pair of Hawkeye's underwear trying to "unfan" us old-timers who actually respect the work that BF did for the team. Go find a better six year run (in wins & losses) than we've had since 2017. I will be here waiting.

Is that how it works in football?!?!? 🤔 Why are the Patriots ready to get rid of Bill Belicheck?? He’s been to three super bowls since 2017, winning two.

Iowa had 2 Rose Bowl wins, multiple top 10 finishes, and a national championship in the last half of the '50s thru 1960.
Those trump the last 6 years.

Better brush up on your history, troll.

Well we have more wins over this six year stretch than during any other six year stretch in history. I know that addition can be hard, but all you have to do is look at our records, and then add up wins & losses. Yes, it feels as if we've plateaued, but we've had consistent winning seasons as well. There was zero reason to throw the baby Ferentz out with the bath water.

Agree with KF keeping it in-house.. easier to move internal folks around that you trust, share your vision and are aligned culturally (assuming they have the right work ethic and capacity to grow/develop). Hiring an external OC would be a much larger resource/time suck and could be a major disrupter (either in a positive or negative way). It wouldn't be like KF to take on that level of risk.
What’s the upside of keeping it in a plain Jane, unproductive, ineffective offensive house? Seriously.

They didn't play as many games back then, so your wins and losses argument doesn't hold water.

Me....I'll take a national championship, multiple Rose Bowls and top 10 finishes. You can stick with drooling over a couple more wins.

And Ferentz is still going to be the coach next year.

Lol. Very, very, very few teams accomplish this. Maybe you should root for Bama. You act like Iowa is a perennial 4 win team.

Bo Pelini had more wins in his seven year stint at Nebraska than any seven year span Kirk has ever had at iowa. And he got fired. Some fan bases are willing to put up with more than others.

FWIW, that silly press release does not "confirm" anything.
His comments sure seem to curb a lot of the speculation of people trying to read between the lines yesterday. Sure, he could change his mind after the season or the University could decide to buy him out, but I don’t think either is likely. He’s within a dozen wins of Woody Hayes on the all-time Big Ten coaching wins record. Definitely reasons for him to stay. As he noted as well, he has 34 years invested in this program.

As would I. Unfortunately I feel that would be a mistake as the offense will improve very little, if any.

He needs to go outside the program and get a proven OC to show the fans he is serious about making the offense better, and then give the guy rein to run the offense his (the OC's) way.

Promoting Budmayr would tell us he is just fine with the status quo.

More importantly, go outside the program to show our players that he’s serious!
I'm sure he'll be just as condescending with the announcement he had of BF getting the OC position, trying to tell fans that he scoured the country for the very best OC for our program, and that in the end the best guy was Budmayr. I could almost write his speech right now.

Not saying I agree with it, but rather that’s how KF runs his organization. For that reason, I’m not expecting a major change.

Love Kirk. But this means we're stuck with his scheme until 2029 or whenever his contract is up. Can't believe it'll be past 2030 before we see a different offensive scheme.
I think he might retire after he passes Woody Hayes in career wins.

The actual philosophy is fine, KF has done it to great success many times over the years - you just can’t be literally THE WORST offense in football, or even in major college football. Go from #130 to the high 80s/low 90s and this team is 7-1 and cruising and perhaps gave PSU a bit of a battle.

Wtf did he do for the team?? Oh yeah..he tanked the m’fing offense into the darkest depths of football offense hell.

And caused us to be discussed nationally for the wrong reasons.

And the wins / losses??? JFC - Brian pretty much had a negative impact on all of Phil’s victories.
