Kirk confirmed back next year & beyond

The actual philosophy is fine, KF has done it to great success many times over the years - you just can’t be literally THE WORST offense in football, or even in major college football. Go from #130 to the high 80s/low 90s and this team is 7-1 and cruising and perhaps gave PSU a bit of a battle.
It’s both sad and disgusting this is what some would accept.

Who he chooses will be interesting. BG put him on notice. If he goes with Budmayr and the Offense goes like it was under BF. KF might not make it until the end of 2024.

Honestly that choice would be a big F U. It amounts to saying I'm doing what I want and I dare you to do something about it. But long time coaches it rarely ends pretty. We are seeing the beginning of this.

I didn’t mean that as a target, I just mean with the D and ST Iowa has year over year, that’s really all they need with this schedule to get to that record….and we’re missing THAT by 50 spots.

That said, I have no issue if Iowa could be an average offense with a great D and great special teams. That plays.

Bo Pelini had more wins in his seven year stint at Nebraska than any seven year span Kirk has ever had at iowa. And he got fired. Some fan bases are willing to put up with more than others.
That is probably the worst comparison possible. Didn't turn out too well for Nebraska.

Probably not a good example. How have they done with multiple coaches since then? And where is Bo now? He was a world class ass hat.

I am not discounting the role of the OC, but, to me I feel that coaches get way too much credit during success and take too much blame when it is not. I am no fan of Budmayr, but I am much more concerned with who the new OC is going to have to work with. The whole Cade thing is a problem because while I think he is a fine QB, I highly highly doubt he will be 100 percent by fall camp and surely won't even play in spring camp. But if he is QB1 then we are in exact same boat next year as we have been this year.

In high-level football, I think the coordinators actually deserve more credit/blame than the head coach. They’re the ones (sure, with HC’s consent) laying out the framework, putting together game plans and calling plays. I wouldn’t expect Iowa to change what it’s been, but I would hope the new OC could be slightly less predictable and actually put together more coherent route trees, etc. Getting back to an average KOK offense under Kirk would have made a massive difference the last 3 years with this defense and special teams play.

Along with a new OC, Iowa needs a change in who coaches the OLine.

Additionally, the negative recruiting against KF will continue as recruits will be reminded that KF likely isn't going to be at Iowa for the entire careers of the 25/26 high schoolers.

What a shitshow.

At least we got Phil and this probably helps with getting the next Epenesa on campus.

It is good that future HOF HCKF is coming back. I am just saddened that the young Mr. Ferentz was robbed of his opportunity to carry this dynasty forward. Sad times.
Hard to be robbed when you were historically bad at your job at Iowa as QB coach and OC. He was better off staying the line coach.

The longer KF sticks around, the longer the rebuild.

Recruiting and development on the offensive side of the ball has been pretty brutal the last few years.

The addition of the PAC12 teams makes it an even bigger challenge.
This can’t be overstated. Not only is Iowa going to have no chance to compete with the current big three or the new big three coming in while KF drags on his tired tenure, teams currently early in rebuilds like Wisconsin, Nebraska, Illinois, Purdue and UCLA will probably be beating our asses on a regular basis by the time KF finally decides to hang it up…

Wrong. Gotta love a bunch of "fans" who probably don't even own a pair of Hawkeye's underwear trying to "unfan" us old-timers who actually respect the work that BF did for the team. Go find a better six year run (in wins & losses) than we've had since 2017. I will be here waiting.
Your entire schtick is like a 2/10. Embarrassing at best.

He's in it to become the coach with the most Big Ten wins. He's been nothing special; only projected to reach it just out of the extreme length of his tenure. I don't feel like he deserves that title. If the legendary Big Ten coaches in the past had more time, they could have won more games too.

I have to laugh at this one.. Nebraska, Illinois and Purdue are in perpetual "rebuild modes".
UCLA has been on and off total shit for a long time. . Common thread there is changing coaches every 4-5 years. Chip Kelly will have a good season and jump ship again soon.

Yep. It’s a matter of time before defensive recruits decline to come because they will have no faith in the offense. The 4 new teams…I have remained a loyal fan through the end of Hayden’s years and beginning of Kirk’s. I started to question Kirk the year we were 4-8 and Vandenberg took every single snap. Then 2015 renewed excitement…early 2021 (number 2). He mentioned the high’s and low’s. Just can’t get excited about the near future…must be a low…
