The North Carolina RuleHonestly, the way it was written, Kansas should be getting punished as a program, not DeSousa himself. A University booster was paying his mother and I don't see how that falls on the kid and not the university. Classic NCAA injustice.
Desousa plays but not for KU or in the Big12, KU gets heavy penalty and if the FBI taps are correct and Self knew he should be out of coaching--Period...John Lennon asked us to imagine: let De Sousa play and Self coach but ban KU from post season play for 5 years.![]()
Part of the fun, when your at KU's level. Self has one of these almost every year for the last three or four years it seems like. Eligibilty issues, possible money changing hands, one thing or another. Yet they just keep winning. Ah the big 12.........Sux to be them. Luckily they won’t have to forfeit the season.
Ask yourself this:
why is Self still coaching?
why is Williamson still playing?
First thing you have to know is the NCAA is a member institution governing body not an independent authority. They’ve figured out punishing their money making programs is bad for business. Who inflicts damage on themselves?
To show they do something though they’ll punish the non money makers.
And you don't think this happens at Duke and North Carolina? Smarter coaches and boosters...Part of the fun, when your at KU's level. I never said that it didn't. This thread was about KU, was it not? My reference to the (big 12) was because no matter how many of these guys Self brings in, and they end up being ineligible, they still win without them, even though it has left them short handed. And you don't think this happens at Duke and North Carolina? According to the story, it was not a booster paying Desousa's guardian it was an Adidas representative. That is why the reps from Adidas are being dragged into court. It was an ingenious scheme because it did not involve boosters in any way. It was reps of shoe companies paying players to go to certain schools (which had contracts with the shoe company, in this case, Adidas). That's why Kansas has portrayed itself as the "victim" in this case.
Again, it defies belief that Self did not know what was going on with Adidas to get players to his school. But there is a difference between common sense telling us something and legally proving it.
2nd year in a row Kansas has had a player ineligible. Yet, no sanctions on program?
They must have the same get outta jail free cards that North Carolina has.
The only problem is the NCAA is spineless and could care less about enforcing the rules to ensure a level playing field. Their handling of NC should tell you all you need to know.So Zion’s family wanted cash, housing and jobs from KU in exchange for his commitment.
So how much did Ratface and Duke shell out to rent him for a year? The corruption in CBB makes me sick to my stomach, I hope all of these cheating programs get cratered by the NCAA.
This first sentence is typed out really dumb. Even for you.Ya, sometime da wicked get what a they deserve. But, Iowa and ISU would both be dealt much harsher penalties as we all know.![]()

Gotta get those dollars from the KU fanbase.......Honestly, the way it was written, Kansas should be getting punished as a program, not DeSousa himself. A University booster was paying his mother and I don't see how that falls on the kid and not the university. Classic NCAA injustice.
They will get KU eventually. The FBI win in court is the precursor to trouble for KU & others. I believe Self may jump to the NBA in the not too distant future. How can Kansas program not be on probation right now? Also Zion Williamson should be kicked out of college B-ball---I don't care if Duke somehow didn't pay for him, somebody did.
Self has no plausible excuse---his assistant was doing the dirty work but Self is responsible. Maybe he winked and not in on details, but he is cheater.
transcript of a wiretapped conversation between Townsend and Adidas consultant Merl Code that was read in court, but not admitted into evidence, Code tells Townsend that Williamson’s family is requesting cash, housing and a job in exchange for the player coming to Kansas. Townsend’s response: “I’ve got to just try to work and figure out a way because if that’s what it takes to get him here for 10 months, we’re going to have to do it some way.”
