McDonald has a B1G ready body already and Djimon Colbert most definitely grew out of his DB body!

Somebody must have told his daughter to do her MLB face. I bet it took awhile for Mends to be able to smile like that again. That guy deserves only the best of luck going forward. Go Hawks

Those two Blonde haired Hawkeyes up front really need to get into Doyle's weight room.

Im not sure how good Taylor is anyway. His bro kind of fell off after the hype from 2015. I'm not bad mouthing him but I feel like he hasn't made any noise yet. Could have missed something. We are loaded at LB right now.
I know that Kyle Taylor has been battling injuries. Angerer was completely off the radar from '05 to '07 .... and then, all of a sudden, in the spring of '08 he was healthy and focussed and he completely burst onto the scene. Of course, for an out-of-state kid ... it might be harder to maintain that same focus ... homesickness can kick in and it sucks when you haven't seen the game-field in so long.
I know there's a playbook and learning in meetings and on the practice field...but Jayden McDonald looks like he could play now.
I'm willing to bet that McDonald and Doyle play as TR FR. Of course, I would also guess that most of the action that they see will be on special teams. It will be interesting to see if they end up receiving any positional reps.
B Wade and D Colbert. Watch for these two. We have a very good one committed with Jacobs who should be a four star. A potential star in McDonald and Doyle. Add Henrich and we would be really stacked there.
If McDonald is what typical 3 star freshman out of Georgia looks like I'll be glad to keep that Georgia pipeline open. Yikes.
If this Georgia pipeline works out, perhaps the coaches could make some inroads into Turkey, Armenia, and Azerbaijan?
The State Dept. and NATO should be able to help us out in these areas. They are already deeply entrenched working with the locals and should have a good grasp on who is and isn't a legit prospect.
Those countries are famous for their Olympic wrestlers, and we do like linemen with wrestling backgrounds.
I agree with you on Wade and Colbert. Really looking forward to watching these two and several other young LBs as well.
Also, he is a bit of a long shot this year but Seth Benson could surprise. He fits the "Iowa mold" at LB - tough as nails, fairly athletic, leadership skills, and a tireless work ethic. Similar "under the radar" players (Greenway, Morris, Jewell e.g.) all saw playing time early in their careers. The difference: a lot of quality depth already on the roster. Interested to see how it all shakes out at LB.
I actually really liked what I saw from Wade in the spring game.
Yeah, by most accounts ... including anecdotes from Kirk ... it sounds like Wade has been a bit of a "riser" this spring. It's interesting ... because Nick Niemann is also a guy who Phil really seems to like too.
It will be great if Barrington can continue to rise ... and force Seth to rotate the LBs a bit more. At the very least, Wade will be cutting his teeth on special teams.

I thought he was listed at like 205-215 when we recruited him. If he is 215 now he is at like 2% body fat. Dude is swole.

I listened to an interview sometime after he signed and he was asked what he weighs now and he replied with like 234 it was somewhere in the 230's
Watching HS highlight reels of McDonald, Wade and Colbert right now has elevated my optimism of the future of linebacker unit tenfold.
Watch Niemann and Doyle too ... the LB group most certainly has talent in the room!
