Larry Bird was a badass

You misspelled Little B*tch

Bird would tell teams where he would be getting the ball and shoot it in their face ahead of time, and then do it.

IIRC, he asked Frank Layden, the Jazz head coach, during the game, if he had anybody that could guard him. Layden looked at his bench and said, "No."

I'd put Larry at the top of the list with Jordan and Hakeem of guys from that era that could be successful in today's game. He was already a lesser athlete than most of his competitors so there wouldn't be that much of a fall off from that perspective. He would still be the smartest guy on the court at all times. That transcends timelines.

The Celts were lucky to have a couple of players the caliber of Bird and Hondo Havlecik...those two helped the Celts win a whole bunch of titles....and beat teams that we’re much better than the Celts.

My favorite was when bird got asked if dream team 2 could beat dream team 1. His reply was something like “maybe but we’re all almost 60 now”.

The Dream Team II was in '96, I'm guessing you mean the Redeem Team in '08.
