Do we have to go back to the end of the 2014 season for the Nebraska "That's Football" game followed by the Taxslayer Bowl blowout? Even then, was Tennessee just a vastly superior team?

I suppose we all sort of block these out... but as this topic pertains to the Minnesota game tomorrow, I'm EXPECTING Iowa to come out kind of angry and ready to avenge the Wisconsin mess.

My thesis is that Iowa is going to have to play really poorly to lose to Minnesota, but of course this is possible. I just can't remember the last time Iowa football "gave away" two games in a row? I'm not going to count the B1G Championship and Rose Bowl here for obvious reasons. Maybe I'm forgetting a couple of games, I don't know...

Not sure I would classify Wisconsin as a mess...... two-four unfortunate plays, yes. I thought Iowa played well actually.

I'm focused on seeing the boys bust up the oars tomorrow rehashing shitty losses is depressing and not good for my emotional well being for shit sakes imo

Our offense is WOEFUL - Wisconsin was a sloppy game
Sure, we put up 30+ on UN-1AA so we must be good

We had 400+ yards against Wisconsin and 19 first downs. Thats with 3 turnovers and a failed 4th down at the Wisc 5. Iowa didn't do great in the red zone but played a pretty good offensive game against a pretty good D.

It was not "WOEFUL".

Why are you talking about last year's Wisconsin game? We're talking about this year's Wisconsin game and the upcoming Minnesota game.

The original post was about the last time we played back to back awful games. The OP said it was 2014. The first response mentioned the correct answer, last year at Wisconsin and Purdue.

A lot of back and forth in this thread due to people talking about different Wisconsin games :)

This . Solid for the most part. Just a few CRITICAL mistakes... That I think you'd rarely see all in one game. As the ole ball coach says. "We have a few things to clean up" .And in this case, it isn't just coach speak

I blocked last year's Wisconsin game from memory. Were we "sloppy" or just get our asses handed to us? I I think of sloppy as an inordinate amount of TO's, penalties, and missed blocks and tackles and assignments. This year's Wisconsin game was sloppy compared to last year's game even though statistically and on the scoreboard we were better this year. I honestly may need professional counseling to get past the punt gaffes in the game this year. I don't care about play calls and stuff like that from that game although the sneak and that sweep were stupid. If we only make 1 but not both punt mistakes we win going away.

Yes Kujawa, that’s how I meant it.

I guess my terms mean different things to different people.

Sloppy to me means killer mistakes in an otherwise well-executed game. 2017 Wisconsin wasn’t that. Also should say I’m not sure the Taxslayer Bowl is that either (I just remember feeling Iowa was completely unprepared and unable to do anything).

We are in agreement Pepper. Yeah, sloppy is not the other team just kicked our ass or general unpreparedness. Sloppiness to me is like the punt crap against Wisconsin this year, a defensive offsides on a 4th and 4 punt, holding or block in the back on the other side of the field from the play, basically Amani Jones in the 1st quarter against Northern Illinois this year, etc. We seem to have 2-3 games like that per year. I do think Wisconsin this year was one (but not last year). Hopefully we are much cleaner today but Kirk after a bye week on the road is 2-10. Not good although I read where he changed up the preparation schedule this year due to past post bye week road failures so I am planning on a generally well executed game by the Hawks today and a 31-17 type win. If we can't run today against that D, then I will be a little worried going forward.

No. Mildy irritated. I expect slop after 20 yrs of watching Kirk offenses and special teams of late. Hopefully D can bail us out per usual. (Slop = 5 or more losses most years but go ahead and embrace it I guess)
Nah, the way you go in on your bitterness about Iowa football = lol u mad

Embrace it, I guess......;)
