I really think it comes back to what I said about MTG and it probably applies to Gaetz - they’re smart enough to be the assholes their base wants them to be, while Boebert has no idea who she is and just plays the clown all the time.
She was just as stupid in 2020, and they voted her in. They voted her in after running a non-existent campaign in which she most likely stole mileage reimbursement money. They didn't care.

I actually think the most likely way she gets removed is by being primaried with someone that has a couple brain cells to rub together. Frisch showed she has a massive weakness (beyond the obvious that she's just a complete turd). If I'm a republican strategist that wants to keep that seat, I focus on getting her out and putting someone sane in there. A "normal" republican wins going away in that district.
The ones who voted are saying F U to the socialists. They are rural Americans collecting their SS, Medicare, and farmer subsidies. And they are flat out tired of socialists running this country.

I don't know how you defend MTG other than to say her constituents must be "special."
I actually voted for Jones and I think she’s horrible. Gaetz is horrible 2.0.

She was a weird - make that very weird - candidate. I can’t help but wonder that if the Democrats thought they had a decent shot at defeating Gaetz they wouldn’t have found a stronger candidate?
The area was solid blue dog Dem for generations but I think the number of military retirees slowly changed that demographic.
That’s a little disappointing to learn. Could you not have just left that blank?
Blue Dog Dems are pretty scarce nowadays. That’s the type that needs to run in this district though.
Might be smarter to give some clandestine support to a Independent if they really want Gaetz out….don’t even bother running a D.
Haven't the Dems run candidates with strong military backgrounds against Gaetz before and lost? Seems like a centrist with military credentials could defeat a guy who diddles teenage girls.
Thought about it…but Gaetz strikes a nerve with me. Plus I knew she didn’t have a chance in hell and it felt good voting for his opponent

Maybe more like “blue dog centrist”? Honestly it’s a fair question but so many older military retirees are so staunch and set in their ways I don’t know the answer. It’s a district about five hours away from me and I don’t stay on top of issues there.
I don’t know if they just didn’t throw any money at the campaign or what.
Didn’t see much in the way of Ads for Phil Ehr….quite frankly I don’t remember seeing one.
Blue Dog Dems are scarce because of primaries and the fact that the country has split even more to the point where moderate Dems are less and less likely to win in red states.
The senate race in 2018 in Indiana showed that. The Dem was quoting Reagan and running ads that would have pre-Trump looked like a Republican ad and he was by any measure one of the most conservative Dem senators in the senate. The Republican ran attack ads asking why the Dem didn't worship Donald Trump. The Republican won.
Where I live is strange. It's Matt Gaetz territory and the bastion of Trumpism in America. A lot of that has to do with how close it is to Alabama, but it still doesn't explain why his particular form of Republicanism is so strong here. However it would be very rural here if not for the military. I think that's what makes it different. It doesn't feel like a crazy person red district, because most of the military (While being heavily Republican) are not really insane type Republicans. They look order, respect, strong military, strong foreign policy, and decency as it's expected of them day in and day out. However they can't vote here. So their presence (My neighborhood for example is about 50% military) seems to dilute the feeling of craziness.
But the locals are as deep south as it comes and they buy into every bit of nonsense that MAGA Republicans espouse.
Spending money on Democratic candidates is a waste here. I don't care what Democrat they run, they'll never win no matter who the Republican is.
What's stranger is that Republicans have ran strong military men, men who are extremely conservative, but who just aren't the db that Gaetz is. And Gaetz slaughters them too. They love that guy here and I just don't get it.

Gaetz’s Dad was extremely popular. Doesn’t explain everything but that’s how he got his start.

Exactly, he's fault for nothing except his own avoidance of prison. There's not a single bill that I'm aware of that he's managed to pass and he's brought absolutely nothing home to our community in Federal funds. But he makes liberal tears so by all means keep voting for him. What a waste of a big head.

Honestly, if they do do a recount I hope it just confirms the prior count, even if that means Boebert wins. It would be disastrous if they’re off by 500+ votes.

People subconsciously relate to people who look like them. People in his district see Gaetz’s vacant gaze and eyes that are just a little too close together and instinctively like him.
