Legit/real or not, WH tweet leaks are fantastic entertainment...

This is one of the main things that needs to be revamped within the state/local LE agencies. They have zero need to be dressed (or equipped) like the military, to include SWAT or other special units.

Didn't a lot of PDs receive excess military equipment left over after the war in Iraq? That may have started this.

The North Hollywood shootout in 1996 or so was what kick started it. They were outgunned once, so they decided they needed to look like an infantry unit for everything.

Yeah, I do remember that, now that you mention it.

Not the military's job. That would be the USSS (<<<see what I did there) and the FBI's job. And yes, they would remove him if him refused to leave, in handcuffs if he resisted physically.

Backed up by the military if necessary.

FTR, I don't know, for a fact, if this stuff is coincidental or intentional. However, knowing what we know about some on his staff (namely Miller), and the sheer amount of crap like this...I find it difficult to believe this stuff is a coincidence.

I think it could make a huge difference.
Soldiers can have an “it’s them or me” mentality. Citizen law enforcement simply can’t. But then we give them all the tools that make it easy to adopt that view. Or revert back to it if the cop is ex-military.

While I'm sure Trump would take secret pride in these things, if he were smart enough to be aware of them (he isn't), the reality is that there probably aren't very many days on the calendar where you can't dig up some massive racially based abusive event that occurred on that day.

I look at it this way. The military is there to defend the country from foreign military aggression (despite it's actual use, that is the purpose). The police are there to enforce laws amongst the neighborhoods they (should be required to) live in.

Explain to me why police need a single piece of military kit? They don't. In addition, the training should reflect the idea that you are dealing with people in your neighborhood, not enemy combatants.

I have zero doubt that Trump is completely oblivious to these things, because, let's face it, he's oblivious to almost everything. But people on his staff live Miller? This is the kind of stuff he'd do because he's a racist turd.

That is a good point.

His rally next week in Tulsa has the same kind of characteristics.

Trump’s planned rally in Tulsa, site of a race massacre, on Juneteenth is ‘almost blasphemous,’ historian says

I think we’re saying the same thing?

I think the increasing militarization of law enforcement has created a distance between the police and the citizenry. Giving them tools of war just exacerbates that divide.

Seems like a Trial Balloon.
  • Putin will take some aggressive action in October
  • He'll tell Trump how to counter
  • Trump will follow directions
  • Putin will back away, letting Trump be "the winner" to take momentum into the election
  • It'll cost some Russian and American lives, but just the 'costs of doing business'
