Let’s be honest

Four weeks ago many were saying “I’m tired of Nelson.”
You gotta remember this is Iowa wrestling and some here are nuts. And some here don't understand the sport as well as they think. Nelson has been and is the best 174 in the room. My opinion is it was always his spot and he got hurt. Many will say but PK will allocate look back and see if Tom cares about allocations. The best guy will wrestle at the Big 10s regardless of who allocates

I don't know that I agree that one is better than the other. And I don't know that I agree that Gabe would be the best 174 either. They are all really close. I think Nelson will get a match next weekend. Hopefully Minn or NW has a tough 174 so we can see where he's at.
Or give Nelson a match at 184 since many here wanna wait on Ferrari.
As long as he's been out, maybe 174 is not in the cards.

Next year to get all of our horses in the race Kennedy and Caliendo both need to drop a weight. It would be a hell of a cut for Caliendo but does he really want another year with Messenbrink in his bracket?
125 Cruz/DeLuca
133 Ayala
141
149 Estrada
157 Caliendo
165 Kennedy
174 Arnold
184 Ferrari
197 Ludington
Hwt Kueter

Also, and I know this isn't going to be popular but the middleweights need someone far better than Ryan to train/roll with. Bring Kemerer back to replace Ryan. No one could say that that wouldn't be a great move for the program.

I don’t want to see Caliendo sucked down.

I don’t see the need to make a shift to get Kennedy in the lineup.

I am happy you’ve moved on to another man crush former wrestler with little to no track record of success coaching. I can get on board with an assistant coaching shake up, but why not actually go out and get someone good?

Not sure why it would change much. He will win/lose the same amount of 2-1 matches whether hes at 65-74-84-97 with his style.
Disagree. His offense is at least partly limited bc he's undersized for the weight. At 74 he'll be one of the physically stronger guys whereas he's definitely not at 84. That goes a long way when it comes to effective offense.

Lenny was definitely feeling it for a good spell there. and was slow back to the middle a couple times.

but i chuckled when there was a blood stoppage and someone text me 'only hawkeye fans would boo blood'
The Nebby fan next to be laughed and high fived me when I said ‘I think he went Dusty Rhodes and cut himself to get a lung timeout’
Had fun throughout the meet

That's 3 in a row...it's not an off match, it's a pattern. I got called out for "throwing shade" at Gabe after MD match but no offense and close matches often lead to disappointing losses in March.
it was certainly not '3 in a row' where guys were living on his legs like silas was.

if you want to say it's a pattern that Gabe hasn't taken a ton of shots, fine.

but almost no one ever sniffs a leg on gabe and silas was in half a dozen times. i haven't seen anyone get in on gabe like that and i've watched just about every match he's ever wrestled for six years.

I agree that Ferrari is the best 184 at iowa but those stall calls against him were all deserved and Iowa fans would be demanding those same calls if the roles were reversed. He back pedaled the entire match. Good news is he is actually kind of close to star, not that it matters (more than likely) at this point.
Nashville how could you like this idiots post?

I can say that it wouldn't be a great move. So much more goes into the job then that. Ryan has relationships all over the country and does well evaluating talent. Also Marinelli and Young are in the room still.

So, you give up? Sounds like PSU broke you.
Oh come on. Unless you want to go full Jeff Gillooly on half of PSU’s lineup, then I’d say put him out there. It wouldn’t be a waste of a year.

People shit their pants over Estrada burning his shirt, and chances are that will have little to no effect on future success. So, you wrestle Ferrari to have a 0.0001% chance at winning it all. That’s reckless stupidity.

Nobody is giving up. Except Tom and Terry Brands, according to you. Thankfully, they are betting on Iowa wrestling existing beyond 2025.

This is “no seatbelts, we die like men” thinking.

In his defense on this I agree that the middle weights would benefit from a different room partner to roll around with vs m* (who I believe has outperformed all expectations with his recruiting efforts)
Most 38 year olds aren't on the mat everyday maybe 1 or 2 times a week . They keep guys around at the HWC to wrestle with the guys. This isn't a small school where you need the assistant on the mat everyday

I just joined this forum, but seem to be having some difficulties navigating threads. Forgive me can someone offer me some advice
The first rule of the cesspool is you do not talk about the cesspool.

Third, if this is your first night in the cesspool, you have to post pics of your wife/girlfriend.

I'm all ears big mouth. Lets hear your take on who we can get with TnT manning the 2 high dollar spots.

Too many Iowa fans are still brainwashed by Mr. We like our guys. There’s a lot of world medals coaching and working out with the psu guys everyday.

You know who isn’t one of them? Kemerer. I’ve thought Iowa should move on from the Brands for years. That’s not what we are talking about.

M* doesn't have anything that Kem couldn't have in a very short amount of time. Kem>Marinelli or Young. Kem is a Pa boy and would help open up more doors there and every kid has heard his name more than M*. You're obviously a M* fan, I'm for making our program better and there are dozens of names that would help Iowa more than Ryan.

You can beat the horse until it's dead but M* isn't going anywhere nor should he
And that is the problem. Will guys like you finally admit TnT need to go when Spencer coaches somewhere else? Keeping M* around and letting numerous other great Hawks go elsewhere is a huge problem. You give Ryan credit for recruiting guys when in reality it is Iowas tradition, facility and fans that get them here.

I would think with all of the money around the program, they could Shift Mariah to a HWC admin type role where she oversees her current duties. Shift Morningstar to Director of Ops/Recruiting role and get another middle weight coach in the room. Kem or Nolf would be outstanding.

Get rid of Dennis and move Terry into his wheelhouse coaching freestyle at HWC. 2 young stud assistants would do wonders for our team.

Anyone need proof, see David Taylor's first year recruiting at Oklahoma State. Yes, a name can make a difference.
If Taylor had taken stars job instead of head coach at OSU, you would absolutely see an immediate difference in our level of recruiting.
