Let the speculation begin

I'm no longer with Northwestern. Great to be a resident of Iowa again.
It's too bad he Tweeted this as the Tweet about Jackson's extension came out. That would have been fun.

Someone tweeted that and asked and he replied with a no. Everyone knows April Fools law that you have to come clean if asked. It's like if you ask someone if their a cop.

I doubt it, at least that's my opinion. That could have an impact on recruits, that would be a terrible joke.

That's where the speculation comes in, son.

The only person on our staff that I could see him replacing is Lofty and Borschel doesn't seem like a strength coach (I know it is just a title). Don't see M* or Berhow going anywhere. UNI? ISU?

I don't see Tom taking the initiative to replace either of those guys, but is there any possibility M* might have a line on a head coaching job elsewhere? I am not in any way, shape, or form an insider but that's the only scenario I can come up with.

Possibilities
-Joining HWC and competing again
-Joining Iowa's staff and someone is getting fired
-Joining ISU staff
-Head coaching high school team and going back to medical sales
-Moving to Alaska to live off the land (ala Into the Wild)

Cross off the last one since his tweet says it's great to be a resident of Iowa again. Any of the rest are plausible.

The last one was sarcastic, but given his personality, not that far removed from reality.

Oh, I could totally see him doing it, for sure! He could probably kill a bear with that fanny pack.

Yep, he's got a website and everything. REALLY curious as to the location as there's already several good ones around the CR/IA City area.

@TheWrestlingLab lists Eastern Iowa as it's location so I would assume it would be the CR area. Wouldn't be that hard to envision him enlisting in the help of a former HS teammate like Matt McDonough (speculation) to be a coach there.

Yeah there's the Eastern Iowa Wrestling Club that is already somewhat affiliated with the Hawks. Then DC Elite pretty much dominates the CR area with a few other smaller ones. Joe Williams has a club, Ubasa has a club. It will be interesting, I'll go take a look if it's close for my boys.

Still a benefit as he is not helping another team and the more high power clubs we can get in Iowa like Young Guns the better for us as frankly the in state talent has been down.

Picture this in 2 years:
Tom Brands Head Coach
Tony Ramos Assistant Coach
Brent Metcalf Assistant Coach
Jay Borschel Volunteer Assistant
Ben Berhow Strength and Conditioning Coach
Luke Eustice Director of Wrestling Operations
Hawkeye Wrestling Club
Terry Brands Head Coach
Pablo Ubasa Assistant Coach
Matt McDonough Athlete/ Administrative Assistant
Phil Keddy Athlete/ Administrative Assistant
With the Nike money for the club I am sure that there will be some more guys competing for the HWC
Nike pays Terry and the HWC athletes.

1. M* is a better recruiter and coach than Jay

2. You don't have any idea what you are talking about with Nike. There isn't Nike money rolling into the club

How is it that you already know Borschel is going to ditch his wrestling club venture in two years to coach at Iowa? Seems like a waste for him to launch if it has already failed.

Why is Ramos going to give up competing yet several older guys will still be at it?

Isn't Ubasa a youth coach? Why is he suddenly in a senior level coaching position?

Did I miss the announcement that Nike is now a major HWC sponsor?

In school did the teachers ever tell your parents you have a "vivid imagination"? You realize that's not necessarily a good thing...

Bahaha, yeah, our middleweights wrestle just like he did. You are obviously clueless. I wish Jay and Ryan could have a go, it wouldn't be close.

Hmmmm, yeah our HWC guys I sat with at Nationals were all wearing Nike gear because they like it better than Asics. Again, you are clueless.
