With the Nike money for the club I am sure that there will be some more guys competing for the HWC
Nike pays Terry and the HWC athletes.
1. M* is a better recruiter and coach than Jay

2. You don't have any idea what you are talking about with Nike. There isn't Nike money rolling into the club

Bahaha, yeah, our middleweights wrestle just like he did. You are obviously clueless. I wish Jay and Ryan could have a go, it wouldn't be close.

Hmmmm, yeah our HWC guys I sat with at Nationals were all wearing Nike gear because they like it better than Asics. Again, you are clueless.
And Jays guys were even less aggressive.

How is it that you already know Borschel is going to ditch his wrestling club venture in two years to coach at Iowa? Seems like a waste for him to launch if it has already failed.

Why is Ramos going to give up competing yet several older guys will still be at it?[/B]

Isn't Ubasa a youth coach? Why is he suddenly in a senior level coaching position?

Did I miss the announcement that Nike is now a major HWC sponsor?

In school did the teachers ever tell your parents you have a "vivid imagination"? You realize that's not necessarily a good thing...
No one said Tony is going to give up competing. Burroughs does both and so can Tony.

You call me clueless but post this as some sort of evidence that Nike is pouring money into the club. You need to stop right now because some of us actually have connections to the program. Nike IS NOT pouring money into the club. You obviously aren't very connected.

In school were you the one who always raised his hand and had the wrong answer?

You post as though you are an insider but in reality there are sure a lot of things you are clueless about.

I have answered all of your questions except the Borschel one and I never said he was going to ditch his wrestling club but I sure wish he was going to be in our room every day.

So what do you want from me, a dollar amount that Nike is giving the HWC? I could have asked several of the HWC guys at Nationals but I think Brent is still with Asics. Tony was in all Nike HWC stuff, I could of asked him I guess. Terry wouldn't have signed with Nike and signed the HWC with Nike if they didn't offer far more than Asics or any other brand.

I'm not denying what he was wearing at NCAAs, but he tweeted this out just over two weeks ago:

"Wether it's wrestling or training Asics are what I wear on my feet!"

EDIT: I realize that he gets Nike gear for everything else through HWC and TMWC, but just pointing out he has a shoe deal with Asics

I am just saying Nike is not donating a bunch of money to the club so you can forget about them getting more HWC coaches based on the Nike deal. You can choose to believe me or not either is fine. The fundraising has picked up to great levels so maybe they will add some guys. Everybody needs to keep donating and let the club continue to build.

I can also agree to disagree with M* and Jaybo. Being a better wrestler doesn't mean you are a better recruiter or coach.
I would love to have Jay on board also so don't take my posts as being anti JB. I think it is an easy choice on what guy you want to send into recruits homes based on appearance and mannerisms.

Awesome!. Id rather have numerous thread to scroll through good or ugly thant to go to a site liek Okst or ISU have where there is 1 new thread per week.

This board show passion unlike no other boards in wrestling. With this large a fan base the good, bad and ugly are all going to happen. Id rather have our board with thousands of posters than the dozen posters on other boards who consider themselves more classy.

I have seen the PSU board with some ugly threads thats could be taken down. Ive seen ugly crap thrown at the Altons treated just as bad as a Dzeiwa, Moore or even a Stroker in some threads.

Ironic though Willie will never call them out when it happens. No tweets about I cant believe the PSU board right now calling the Alton worthless and the dont care tough. Its just our board right? F'n hypocrit acts like we are the 1% and every football board on rivals is some civilazed respectful form but the Iowa wrestling is the devil. Dude is clueless of the bigger picture in regards to overall message boards in general in all sports and has an agenda.

I forget. It was a little more subtle than his trashing of this board, but he did say something

Surely you jest. Jay is a pretty boy too and he is very well spoken.Tom, Terry, Schwab, Gable. Not one pretty boy in the group. When Brent is a coach, he is no pretty boy, but our recruiting will pick up overnight.

I will say this, I am not anti M*. Do I think we could get a better middle weight coach? Without a doubt. I like Ryan but I put our team above all else and results speak volumes.

You seem like a good dude so we are just going to have to agree to disagree.

And which results at NW, specifically, are you citing to prove JayBo is a great coach? Sure had worked wonders with Sliga so far.

Yes nothing personal at all and I put the team above all else also. Neither of us are happy with the results but I like where recruiting is heading. I wish Nike was pouring in money but I think they are going to help the club more in lines of apparel instead of cash. For the bolded part I was just trying to say Jay is a pretty free spirit.

Someone correct me, but weren't there several posters a month ago saying Morningstar used to regularly beat Borschel in the room when they were both here? Or am I "mis-remembering"

I can all but guarantee that IF Jay and Ryan wrestled a competitive match, it would be a very tightly contested battle... If they wrestled 10 times, I'm not sure who would win the majority. Point being, those that say Jay would "trash"
Ryan are thoroughly UNinformed.

Also, while Jay is a free spirit and outstanding guy, I'm not sure I've ever met a more down to earth, humble, genuine, well spoken human being than Ryan Morningstar. No knock on Jay whatsoever, but as a Hawkeye wrestling fan, I know with complete certainty who i'd rather have walking to a recruits and parents household.

Past credentials and success don't mean near as much to recruits and families as way too many of you think they do. The Iowa brand sells itself and Ryan Morningstar is an absolutely phenomenal salesman. The effort and work Ryan puts in blows competitors minds.

+1. He has always struck me as a good guy. It seems as though he is a very active recruiter as well which is extremely important - and definitely not for everyone. Many coaches hate recruiting. His effort on the recruiting trail is much more important to me than his contribution in the room (and I have no opinion on his contribution in the room as I rarely make it there).

Folks are just looking for someone to blame for the lack of output at nationals and overall development. M* is convenient because the Brands are idolized by most of us so its tough to point the finger at them.
