Look. More normal behavior by the rapist

However, the order does not specify which financial aid programs would have to be suspended.
The federal government funds thousands of programs, including research projects, housing subsidies and educational grants.

But also things like Social Security, Medicaid, FEMA, Section 8, WIC, SNAP, Headstart, and many others that will effect people's day-to-day life.

Duh.

The king’s edicts are as untouchable as they are infallible.
Seriously, I get the Democrats being upset at a lot of their base voting elsewhere but they need to at least pretend to put up resistance. They can't just allow these edicts to go unchallenged. Half the reason they lost is because they demoralized their voters by not pushing very hard to hold Trump accountable and now they seem to be doubling down on that. I mean, if they don't want to do the job they are in position to do then they need to step aside and let someone who is ready to do it for them.

I’m not a Democrat.

I just hate Trump and the destruction of the once sensible GOP.

I wasn't saying you were but the Democratic party is the organization that is supposed to be providing the bulk of the resistance and so far they are laying down like an MLB team tanking for draft picks.

To be fair, there isn't a lot Democrats can do to stop anything right now and reacting to every crazy thing Trump does/says is a proven losing strategy.

How do you argue against magical thinking?

I was pretty sure the Democrats would let us down when I started hearing them say, "I trust the American people..." I could have told them that was a really bad idea.

They need to be taking the stuff he does that is blatantly unconstitutional to court. Even if they lose. They need to at least show that they are putting up a fight so they can take it to the midterms "We have been fighting but we just don't have enough in Congress to stop them, help us fight the corruption!".

I mean, he's literally trying to write laws with executive orders and line item vetoing legislation that has already been passed. There should be a dozen lawsuits based on those things filed already. He can't just unilaterally decided to end all funding of grants when there are laws that actually provide those things. Even if the Supreme Court goes his way it is worth the fight. The worst thing the Democrats can do is look like they've given up, which is exactly what they look like right now. They need to force Republicans to go through the legislative process to do these things because you know damn sure the Republicans won't let the next Democrat walk in there and write a thousand executive orders in the first week to try and erase everything Republicans have done (well, except for the stuff that was done by EO because it only takes another EO to cancel it.)

Great job, cut spending massively and stop using tax dollars to address human inability to control themselves.

This was a major campaign promise and he’s delivering it
It’s the right thing to do. We all know how mismanaged gov funds are. Can’t account where the money goes and all you have to is look at California. Look at the defense dept. and there inability to account for spending. Im sure we can all agree we need to review all spending before you release more money. We sure know that hasn’t taken place for a long time.
I have a question. Why do Dems always put up a fight when spending is reviewed and say nothing when fed money goes missing? Makes no sense.

Hey look, two people who don't think Trump is a treasonous insurrectionist! Good for you guys!
Touche. Although there is enough evidence to place Trump there, at least in the court of public opinion, than there is for Biden. I won't defend Clinton on that. Although I don't think there were many accusations of actual rape against him, just sexual harassment and inappropriate actions.

I can agree we can't account for where all money goes, but I don't think we can ever account for where it all goes. Should we be stopping all payments such as social security, medicaid, and other support systems that the honest people need for day-to-day life just because we can't account for where the fraud goes?

Americans pay into these programs for 50 years before collecting

then why isn't he pausing defense spending?

Are you saying he paused Social Security checks?
I pay for medicare
Don't know, not clear. But Social Security is a financial assistance program.

The White House's Office of Management and Budget has instructed all federal agencies to cease spending on any financial assistance programs if they suspect it might conflict with President Donald Trump's recent executive orders.

However, the order does not specify which financial aid programs would have to be suspended.

There's also a point at which a lot of folks need to simply learn a lesson. Many people keep making decisions that are not in their own interests at the ballot box and then want someone else to save them from that decision when the warnings they heard (or ignored) along the way become reality.

I have thought that too, but I have also thought that the MAGA base is so stuck in their media bubble that they will probably buy the next line of propaganda on why it isn't Trump's fault. The people that will have to learn their lessons are both siders, spectators, third party voters, people that feel like their vote doesn't matter, and politically ignorant people.

34 trillion dollar debt but lets not make any changes? Must be a big Fran supporter too.
Changes can be made without a hard shock to the system.

The article says they will be resumed Feb 10 if deemed necessary. So why not keep them going now, review them now, and then stop them on Feb 10 if unecessary. Why pull the rug out from everyone now and later say "oh no, we're sorry, we will resume the program"?

Elon said before the election that many Americans need to feel "pain" and "hardship," and it's time for them to feel it. They chose this path.
Pain and hardship, exactly what my dad’s Italian born grandparents felt.
My mom grew up in the Missouri Ozarks with no indoor plumbing and went to a one room school house…Amazing she riveted the wings of bombers in St Louis in 1943 and could finish the Sunday NY Times crossword puzzle in an hour
