Iowa's success running the ball early on was fantastic. Davis called some nice miss direction and pitches that were awesome. Both backs ran explosively which led to a vanilla game plan especially with the passing game. Can never have a perfect game but clean up a couple of drops, one in the endzone, and Iowa was very efficient.

You hit half of it on the nose. The first quarter running game was phenomenal. Why did we stop then in the 2nd, 3rd, & first half of 4th? Gotta keep CJ healthy.

Although three straight runs near the end of the 1st half instead of trying to get more points wasn't smart.

It really is a mixed bag with Davis. Sometimes, you'll think dang! those were some really nice play calls. Other times, you'll think WTH is he smoking?

I thought he reverted back to the "greg davis 3rd and 5" offense a bit too much

Does this have to do with Brian Ferentz and him being the run game coordinator? I'd bet it does.

Well we did finally run some toss plays. And the flip was a nice run play too

There was a reverse called that came out of nowhere. But worked and was a cool call.

CJB has a big part in the success of the offense, adjusting at the line of scrimmage for us.

IMO, I felt like Davis didn't show much on offense. We had no reason to flash our entire playbook against Miami of Ohio. We ran that swing pass to the outside two or three times, the always Flea Flicker, and had a couple shots down field, that wasn't the entire playbook, at least I hope not! Haha, I have nothing to worry about. The OLine looked tough, IMO. Yes we let them in twice on CJ, but it happens, they looked big up front!

What worries me is the weak side of our defense.. I could go into this all day, but I'm not!

I'd assume that the first 15 plays were scripted and everyone (Greg, Kirk, and Brian) had an opportunity to offer an opinion. We probably executed them to death in practice and that enhansed the result.

The offense showed and did what I expected. Kept it simple and dominated, although CJ took more shots than I thought he would. He got rocked a few times

They were extremely efficient but CJ doesn't need to get rocked like that again anytime soon.
