Luis Tiant, RIP

Back in the day, Luis was worth the $$ of admission. The guy had a pitching motion that covered the entire playing field each and every delivery! Pitched for the Indians and more famously the Red Sox.

He did more to popularize “The Cuban” cigar in America than Fidel Castro.

One night years ago, my brother and I got shnockered with Luis T. after a Red Sox/Royals game, where he got lit up….(in the hotel bar across the street from Royal Stadium).
He was very philosophic about his beat-down..he said after his headache went away, 4 days later he’d be pitching another game in another city and he wouldn’t be facing George Brett or Willie Wilson…and it would be a better day.
We had 3-4 beers with Luis that night and he was still at the bar when we left.
