looks like he will be at freakshow this weekend. I still wonder if he is heading to IC next year, guess will know on signing day or sooner.

From the day he committed, up until very recently his twitter had always said something like Future Iowa Hawkeye wrestling, with a Hawkeye logo as his cover photo. Also with him being out in Cali, it just seems more and more unlikely. It may be a similar situation as Jrent/Jmejia and Spencer Lee/Teasdale. I'd imagine that the coaches are probably offering Berge significantly more money, and with having two other big recruits in the 149-165 weight range in Kemerer and Marinelli, it just doesn't seem like there will be a lot left over for Mr. Troy unless he wanted to come for little to no money. This is all just speculation on my part, would still love to have him, but I don't think he is a need recruit at a need weight for us currently. All just my opinion.

That being said I will still be cheering for him at Freakshow and hope he still is a hawk and that twitter is indicative of nothing in this case!

I do remember his twitter said future hawk, but it didn't have anything Iowa as the cover photo. I think you are thinking of Bradley's account on those regards.

I was mainly putting this up because people where wondering why he wasn't coming this weekend like the other recruits, and him wanting to attend Freakshow might be why. I do remember in an interview he said ISU had offered him big $ to go there and he turned it down to take less and come to Iowa. Things change. I hope he's a Hawk.

Still hoping he's a Hawk. My other Cali Hawk (Mejia) bailed and I would love to a local dude to root for. I'm planning on watching him at his sectional tournament this year decked out in Hawkeye gear. For those that haven't seen him, he's wrestles an entertaining style. He's got some bad habits that get him trouble from time to time, but he's never out of a match. He's wrestles every second of every match and constantly looks to score. Here's a look at him vs. current Hawk Jeremiah Moody. Mind you Moody is two grades senior to Troy. Fingers crossed.

It doesn't appear Troy is at Freakshow either per trackwrestling brackets??

Moody might be two years older but he was far from being on anyone's radar as a D1 prospect. Just saying that Troy as a recruit is on a much different tier

Moody is 2 years further along in school b Moody is a year younger than most of his grade class.

I would think that bodes well for Berge, but I don't want to draw that conclusion to early. If he isn't coming, that '49-65 space must be filled.

I do think it is a need but don't know if it desperately needs to be filled. I hear we have some sort of legacy recruit coming in next year that should be around that weight... Brands or something like that was his name.

It would be nice to know why. In his commitment interview he mentioned turning down full ride offers to come to Iowa and he had the attitude that he would have to beat guys like Kemerer, Sorensen, etc if he went to another school so he might as well do it at Iowa.
