I was able to watch part of the sessions on Mat 1-4 this morning. I realize they weren't wrestling D1 guys so it's hard to tell. I thought Ybarra looked stronger than in the past. Brody did look injured to me, glad he battled back but am not surprised that he MFF. Franek looks like he's 26 years old (in a good way) bigger / stronger and wrestled solid. VV and Glazier came out strong with TDs and backs and falls. Anthony Ferrari looked good. I will be interested to see where he's at with VV.

WOW - You can really see the gap between the different levels of collegiate competition. No disrespect to Wartburg or Augsburg because they are both winning National Championships left and right but when those 2 schools wrestle the Hawkeyes they get smoked....

VV’s legs on top are very good. Im looking forward to see how good against better guys. He wears a brace on his left knee but there does not seem to be any lack of movement there, he is able to hit a really good trick knee with that leg.
Let that battle continue for that 149 spot, we have some hammers competing for it!

I saw Coach Phil posted a clip of Gabe on Twitter. It looked like Gabe was wearing the Iowa singlet - does this count as one of his 5 appearances for redshirt purposes?

For those of us that don’t follow nonD1 wrestling, who are the other quality wrestlers (Nat champs or high placing lower level wrestlers) in this tournament?
