Would be interesting to see if this would move through faster if they were to go unpaid and unfunded until a Speaker is elected.
Meh that would put no pressure on the wealthier members of congress while putting tons of pressure on the less wealthy members of congress.
If you want to do something like that it needs to be something that affects them equally. Lock them in the capitol building, give them only bread and water, and make them sleep on cots and sleeping bags.

Nothing is going to get done the next two years. Nothing.
Which will make it hard for those who keep saying "Washington is broke" to get re-elected. When the main theme of some of these MAGA types is that, they are going to have to convince their voters that they are the "answer" even after they have served 2 or 3 terms.
If the economy is good in 2024 and inflation is back down to normal, it is going to be very hard for Rs to craft a winning message that fall.

They're going to have to call in Bonesaw and the Saudis to crank up gas prices the month before the election again to give them something to run on.

I think this is a small road bump, the 5-20 that are the impediment can likely sell this well to their people. They are also being voted into office by a minority of a minority who doesn't really care about the big picture. Bumper sticker voters if you will.
Trend shows Boebert likely won't be reelected, but I can see a number of the others getting back in.
The only thing that would get Gaetz kicked out would be if he became a Democrat. He's an idiot who does nothing, but the people here think he's great because he makes the Lib's cry.
I'm not saying all 20 won't get re-elected. But a few will lose, espcially those in purple districts.

The Republican party may need to start putting as much money into trying to control their primaries in some of these idiot districts as well as in buying some of the idiot news/online broadcasters as they do in defeating Democrats. They clearly need to find a way to start controlling some of the out of control messaging not only because it is bad for America, but also because it's going to sink the party as a whole. If Gaetz and Boebert become the face of your party to most people you're sunk.
Guaranteed it was a big factor in the R's unable to get a sizable majority. When u let the loudest voices fill the news cycles endlessly. The entire party is going to be identified as nutters.
