*****MAGA in disarray, who will be speaker of the House***** McCarthy REMOVED! Jim Jordan 0-3. Election denier Mike Johnson confirmed. Vote them out

One thing we all can be sure of, if he wins on the 14th ballot, or 69th ballot or 420th ballot, Kevin McCarthy will then strut around like it was some grand victory and pretend he has a mandate. The man clearly has no shame. I would have have said **** you and taken my ball home after the third vote.

Anybody know if he went through with the one vote concession? If so, Kev is screwed. Some clown like Gaetz could call for a re-vote anytime he wants. And I am very curious what deal his super pacs carved out for him. Can the Senate call for an investigation into this? Pacs and candidates are not allowed to collude together.

The media coverage is really dropping the ball on this coverage. If I am producing this, I would have Mccarthy
get a big lead early, then Team Holdout starts coming back and at the last second throws another Hail Mary and pulls off the upset for the 13th straight time.
Clicks and views would be much higher with some drama in the game.

I assume he will get it soon, but the playbook is now written. He’s going to have to deal with holdouts from all parts of the caucus on every major piece of legislation. Any small group can make it impossible to pass anything. Nightmare for him.

I predict he throws out some read meat to get some early wins and lessen the GOP embarrassment from the past week.

Things that are DOA to the Senate or more rules stuff?

Honestly they are gonna spend all their time on Hunter's laptop.

Day 1, Biden family investigation task force followed shortly with committee to investigate the FBI.

The cons on this forum seem MIA.

Why is that?
Trad, I can understand...he's padding his December mileage reimbursement.
Northern is probably in a holding cell waiting for a judge.

But the rest?
Ever since HR moved over to On3, it's like nary a Republican except occasionally Northern. Either they left, or they are just tired of this shit too.

The entirety of this is the debt ceiling vote. They are holding this up to get significant spending cuts in place. I’m ok with spending cuts, but they need to basically across the board and not enacted via blackmail. Cut defense spending. Cut farm subsidies. Cut those things that affect their constituents.

Democrats need to fight for the debt ceiling debate. Tell republicans, we are doing a straight up debt ceiling increase. Nothing else. You want to push us over the cliff then get pushing.

It's being reported McCarthy said that he now has the votes he needs.

If McCarthy has run out of concessions, what are the odds that there will be some legal/illegal campaign donations from Kevin's PAC going to dissenters?

My hope is that now that McCarthy has the votes, some of the moderate Rs flip and start voting for someone else - since he's conceded so much and may no longer represent them the way they'd originally planned.

They need to make cuts AND re-implement all the tax breaks for the wealthy, who pay lower rates than most middle-class taxpayers.

Tax stock buybacks (since those serve mostly the wealthy, and do not re-invest money into a company). Tax cap gains at higher rates for those with higher net-worth; keep those rates lower for small/individual investors.

All of these Republicans talking about wanting to reform spending and cutting down the debt have a really solid point. Well until you ask them about that time period of ancient history 2017-2019. When almost all of these same reps voted to pass record deficits. And essentially fund massive tax cuts with deficit spending. Where the heck were these deficit Hawks?

Yep.
