No other Speaker took 15 tries in the last 100 years to get elected. No other Speaker had such weak control over his members. No other Speaker was removed under an insane one vote rule created by Republicans. That's all on the Rs. The Dems had a highly functioning House under Pelosi. The Rs have a literal non functioning House under McCarthy. How you blame the Dems is beyond reason.

It is not the Dems job to vote to retain a Republican leader who has consistently lied to them, moved to impeach their president for no reason at all, and flat out said that he would do nothing for them to retain him. That's all on Kevin.

Fact it's not the oppositions party's job to elect the leadership of the other party. If the Dems had saved Kevin. It would have only been a matter of time before he would have been ousted for something else. With the one vote rule in place.
McCarthy would have gotten worse after saving. He was already moving hard right before Gaetz kicked him in the nuts. But after he would have been right there with the MTGs, Matts, and Boeberts, trying to fend off another vote to oust him. There is simply no way the Dems could vote to retain such a reckless and dangerous leader.
