*****MAGA in disarray, who will be speaker of the House***** McCarthy REMOVED! Jim Jordan 0-3. Election denier Mike Johnson confirmed. Vote them out

So, the frontrunner appears to be Gym Jordan. He voted against certifying the 2020 elections, and has refused to discuss his participation in Trump's coup.
If any of you thoughtful, but solidly brand loyal Republicans would like to explain to me how someone in direct line to ascend to the presidency could be pro coup, and refuse to certify a valid election please chime in.

Don't forget that he also refused to honor a Congressional subpoena. He doesn't respect the body he wants to lead.

Given the total lack of leadership from the "Party in Power", it's nice to know that there is a legislative body that will lead and is willing to pick up the slack from the party who won't govern.

Still sad, though.

Should we send out an All Points Bulletin to alert the appropriate officials to be on the look out for those who are AWOL?

Dems voted unanimously to remove the speaker.

Just a fact.
And there wouldn't have been a vote if the Republicans didn't use the ridiculous one member can call for a vote to remove the speaker. Dems didn't call for the removal, the MAGA Republicans did. The Democrats chose not to save the Republicans from themselves.

8 republicans voted to remove McCarthy.

All Dems voted with MTG and Matt Gaetz.

Just facts. Strange to be bitching about the results…team blue got what they wanted.

Do you want the Republicans to continue to bow to the MAGAs or do you want the sane Republicans to take control? If the Democrats do the work for the Republican Party there will never be a reason for the moderates to push back against the party of Trump. Sometimes tough love is necessary for childish people.

Is anything the republicans fault in your alternative universe?
Oh absolutely. They put the stupid rule in place.

But here’s the thing..team blue pretends to be the party that puts country before party. Country first, team politics second.

Question: Other than owning team red what was the upside of voting out McCarthy for the D’s. Specifically for the country.

I can’t think of one…can you?

McCarthy couldn’t be trusted. Any deal to save him wouldn’t have been upheld.

Add in the impeachment nonsense and his public comments and I’m not surprised the Dems didn’t rush to his aid.

Because he’s a liar that had proven time and again that he would not work with them.

I don’t see anything other than owning team red in your post. Jim Jordan is a better alternative?
I don’t think it’s owning Team Red to not play along with a liar and fraud who is beholden to a few nuts. Say they saved McCarthy. That just buys a little time until McCarthy reneges on something else to save his neck. Rinse and repeat.

McCarthy was never going to last.

Just stop. It doesn’t matter who the speaker is, they’re not going to work with democrats.
McCarthy needed D’s to pass the clean CR to bypass the R idiot caucus.

He negotiated with Biden on the debt ceiling.

WTF are you talking about?

Jim Jordan sure as F won’t.

I think his replacement will be worse…at least from a D perspective.

We’ll see.

He also reneged on deals with the Dems.

He would be fine if he was a trustworthy negotiating partner but he's not. That's the entire problem with McCarthy. He makes lots of promises to lots of people that he can't keep.

Dems need someone to negotiate with that will stick to their word.

Yes, Jim Jordan will be so much better 😒

Not saying he would but there is no guarantee that he becomes speaker.

I would hope the remaining 200+ Republicans who backed McCarthy wouldn't then just go give the crazies their own candidate.
They know the Dems have the backs of the Matt Gaetz 8 after what happened to McCarthy.

They have to work with Gaetz and crew now for sure. No way around it now.

No; they do not

All that needs to happen is for sane, moderate Republicans to be fed up with the MAGA bullshit. Caucus with the Dems to clean the mess up.

Getting rid of all the gerrymandered districts that are safe-havens for the MAGAs would be a good start.

No that's not the case. Every majority is expected to elect it's speaker off the back of it's own majority, not expecting help from the minority to get that speaker or keep him.

Dems have never been obligated to back the other party's speaker. They chose specifically not to back him because he had lied to them.

If he picked deals he negotiated with Dems and keeping his word over trying to please MAGA than maybe Dems might have backed him. But he didn't he tried to play both sides.

As usual, when you try to please everyone you end up pleasing no one.
