These are fair points to a degree but as others have already stated, it ultimately is a republican problem. Also, McCarthy had an opportunity to make a deal with the Dems but declined.Point is McCarthy is probably better than the replacement will be...
Put forward a clean CR that got over 200 D votes to keep the government open.
Next R speaker will probably be able to get a "loaded" CR through his own caucus....unlike McCarthy. We'll see...
McCarthy was in a very weak position with his own caucus...D's could have used that as leverage over him.
I have serious doubts that'll be the case with the next R speaker....but we'll see.
Fair enough. These are fair points to a degree but as others have already stated, it ultimately is a republican problem. Also, McCarthy had an opportunity to make a deal with the Dems but declined.
Dems faultLooks like the Rs are no closer to electing someone after Mondays huddle. This incompetence is going to take a while
Why don’t you ask the Republicans. After all, they control the House, established the rules, and brought the motion to the floor. Thanks
Answer me this, how is removing McCarthy and having another R speaker battle beneficial to the country?
the 210 R's that voted against his removal answered that for me.Why don’t you ask the Republicans. After all, they control the House, established the rules, and brought the motion to the floor.
I’ve been avoiding your nonsense throughout this thread, but your response above gives me a very tiny ray of hope. So, against my better judgment, I’ll give an answer to your question about the benefit to the country provided by ousting McCarthy.Fair enough.
The post mortem on this will be interesting. If the "one idiot can bring up a vote to vacate" rule somehow gets tossed the next speaker might actually be in a stronger position.
We'll see.

The dude had worked himself into an untenable position where he was trusted by no one and could be taken down by anyone. THAT is not good for the House of Representatives and certainly not good for the country. Ousting McCarthy gives them a mulligan and the opportunity to do better this time.
I hope against all hope that there are still a few well meaning conservatives left that want to do better and have a functioning House. But that is up to them to decide whether they are beholden to America or beholden to MAGA-stan.
The Democrats are the minority so they can’t make this happen, they can only “put Rs in a position to have success”. It’s kinda like teaching your kids to drive; you can offer advice and practice with them and show them how, but at some point, they’ve got to get behind the wheel and drive.
If that speaker is Jim Jordan, I hope they keep the rule.Fair enough.

These crazy cons are lost, please anyone, give them a compass.Looks like the Rs are no closer to electing someone after Mondays huddle. This incompetence is going to take a while
Which begs the question: how does McCarthy get the votes? He will need at least some of the people who voted to remove him to suddenly vote to reinstall him.
Moderates need to decide which will be politically worse for them cutting a deal with Dems or having Jordan as speaker.Which begs the question: how does McCarthy get the votes? He will need at least some of the people who voted to remove him to suddenly vote to reinstall him.

I can't envision any R voting for Jeffries. I think Kevin will get back in. But he will have to make major concessions to do so.Moderates need to decide which will be politically worse for them cutting a deal with Dems or having Jordan as speaker.
1. Getting rid of a feckless, shitty speakerOh absolutely. They put the stupid rule in place.
But here’s the thing..team blue pretends to be the party that puts country before party. Country first, team politics second.
Question: Other than owning team red what was the upside of voting out McCarthy for the D’s. Specifically for the country.
I can’t think of one…can you?
It’d be nice to have a speaker at the moment. Just sayin…1. Getting rid of a feckless, shitty speaker
2. Exposing the idiocy of House Republicans heading into an election year
I could go on, but those two are more than enough to make it a good decision.
The deal i meant is to get some safe or moderate Dems to vote for a Republican. Enough to outvote the showboatsI can't envision any R voting for Jeffries. I think Kevin will get back in. But he will have to make major concessions to do so.

And that’s why Matt Gaetz is a stupid piece of shit 🙂It’d be nice to have a speaker at the moment. Just sayin…
True statementAnd that’s why Matt Gaetz is a stupid piece of shit 🙂
Stay obtuse.Good thing 208 D's voted to remove McCarthy. Well done.
Once again you want the Democrats to take the high road, and then you’d turn around and vote Nikki Haley. They’re the only adults in Washington and you hold it against them if they don’t, AGAIN, bail out the do nothing Republicans. It makes zero sense.Point is McCarthy is probably better than the replacement will be...

No you aren’t. You’re team bury your head in the sand.Actually I'm team USA.
It's not a good situation to have no speaker in the house at the moment. Israel situation/Ukraine aid and another CR coming up....
208 D's voted with Gaetz to make that happen.
Now the dysfunctional R's will spend a couple weeks coming up with a new speaker.
Great.
Congrats on the W for team blue.
Hope you like the replacement…Once again you want the Democrats to take the high road, and then you’d turn around and vote Nikki Haley. They’re the only adults in Washington and you hold it against them if they don’t, AGAIN, bail out the do nothing Republicans. It makes zero sense.
We know. Believe us, please believe us, we know.Probably not…
Mainstream Republican
That's the same person who took Liz Cheney's place????
