*****MAGA in disarray, who will be speaker of the House***** McCarthy REMOVED! Jim Jordan 0-3. Election denier Mike Johnson confirmed. Vote them out

The republican moderates, who prove repeatedly that they are just as extreme as the avowed MAGAs, could end this today by entering into a power sharing coalition with democrats. They won’t because they are either MAGAs themselves or are afraid of standing up to the MAGAs because they would be primaried. A primary would put their access to the gravy train at risk.

Or (as with January 6th), they are afraid their own constituents will actively and violently target them, when they have to admit lying to their own voters for years....

The latest news on the race to elect a new House speaker:

  • Republican Reps. Steve Scalise, of Louisiana, and Jim Jordan, of Ohio, are the two declared candidates for House speaker to replace Rep. Kevin McCarthy, R-Calif.
  • House Republicans met last night to hear from the two candidates during a closed-door forum. Many emerged pessimistic that they would be able to agree on a new speaker today.
  • House Republicans are set to meet privately today at 10 a.m. to vote for the next speaker by secret ballot before calling for a floor vote. The process could drag on for hours or days.
  • Democrats are backing Rep. Hakeem Jeffries, of New York — a formality since they lack the votes to pick the speaker.
  • The race was triggered when Rep. Matt Gaetz, R-Fla., made a motion to vacate the chair of speaker and won a majority vote when all Democrats and eight Republicans voted against McCarthy.

I’m not an expert on all the parliamentary procedures… Is the house literally not able to do any work/votes without someone in that position?

So they can’t get any work done with the 4 foot tall interim guy? They literally can’t do anything at all someone is selected?

They can do enough to elect a new Speaker. Not too much else. So any bill is off the table.

The vote count kind of jives with the pro Ukraine / anti Ukraine camps.

Jordan is a pretty firm no on Ukraine.

So what do they do if Georgie Poorgie gets booted and can't vote?

Maybe Hakeem Jeffries will be in play at some point, lol.

He didn't just "defaud" them....he actively stole their CC info, and repeatedly (illegally) re-charged them, then pushed that $$ into his campaign and lied about where the money came from.
