*****MAGA in disarray, who will be speaker of the House***** McCarthy REMOVED! Jim Jordan 0-3. Election denier Mike Johnson confirmed. Vote them out

Dems should identify a more moderate and reliable Republican who is trustworthy and willing to move important legislation. Bring four more Rs with him/her and viola you have a governing coalition to at least steer clear of impending disaster.

Problem is you can't trust any of these piss ants. Seriously. And no matter who they have in leadership they don't have the talent to govern. This cascades down to committee chairs and relegating assignments, authoring legislation, and the various functions relating to House responsibilities.

The fact they can't coalesce within their own party to select a House leader after recently ousting one, in the face of international turmoil and a pending Continuing Resolution rehash is evidence of that lack of talent and is a graphic warning sign.

That's because the Dems for all the disagreements between them still know how to come together and govern.

The Republicans CAN NOT GOVERN. They can't even select their own leader in the freaking house.

This isn't me saying they can't govern because I don't like the policies by which they govern by, they can't govern as in they can't come together and agree on anything of any importance.

Had full control of government for 2 years under Trump and all they could agree on was a tax cut. Couldn't agree on healthcare or anything else. Now they can't even agree on a leader in the house.

Thank you for confirming everything people are saying about you.
tv land thank you GIF by YoungerTV
You’re welcome

All it would take is five of them. I know they won't like it, but they will need to hand the power over to the Dems. The Rs can't do even the most basic of functions right now. They need to be relieved of duty. Five Rs need to do what is right and give up control. Hand over the keys. The Republican party is too drunk to drive.
No, no, hell no. It has to be 190-200 Republicans coming to Jeffries and f'n begging for the votes to get them out of their shit show. Jeffries can ID the purple district Dems who would benefit from the vote and extract a real power-sharing agreement for the trouble. The Republicans MUST stand up to the idiots causing all their problems and remove every one of them from positions of influence. If it's all Dems with a handful of Reps, every screw-up will be laid at the feet of the Democrats. That's a hard no, dawg.

Republicans do this anyway no matter what the circumstance. Nothing is ever the fault of Republicans!
But if it's a majority of the Dems responsible for the Speaker, they'll deserve it. The GOP must choose their own leadership even if it requires a minimal Dem vote. And that vote has to be conditional.

I agree this is the best option, but I'm not sure there are 190 Republican representatives that can agree on anything.

The old saying was two kinds of legislatures. Work horses and show horses. Too many show horses or I guess now the current vocabulary would be social influencer/celebrity.

Yes Nancy had a firm grip on his caucus and Kevin didn’t.
Here's the thing ... it's not even Kevin's fault. No speaker will be able to control this animal. The MAGA faction is full of anarchists that have no clue how government works. We literally tried to warn you all 7 years ago but you let Trump in and now the cancer has spread. Reap what you sow GOP.

To be fair to him I think he was trying to make the argument that it was better for the country if McCarthy remain speaker.

I see his point to some extent but I disagree because McCarthy became someone no one could trust.

If we want Republicans in the house to come together and negotiate compromises with Biden and the Senate in order to get things done and move things forward, Biden and the Senate need to be able to trust that when McCarthy says that they have a deal that he's going to do everything in his power to move that deal forward. Not re neg at the last moment to play to the hard right.

Also Jeff Jackson said that the Dems decided not to back him because he openly said on TV that he would not offer anything to the Dems.

If 208 Democrats didn't vote for McCarthy that's on McCarthy. He should have shut his mouth and not blamed them on national television for BS several idiots in his caucus are creating. Not arguing with you, just saying.

Have to disagree a bit here. Republicans absolutely imo could have avoided this - but to do so they’d have needed to pushback against their fringe members and not let them take control of the party. Now theyre finally realizing this is no longer sustainable.

The sad thing is we all have to reap because they didn't listen to people in reality. Day after day on this board they show they aren't ready to accept what we've been trying to explain to them.

The "one idiot rule" basically made him dead man walking.

I mean heck, if nothing else make an overture to Dems as a negotiating tactic against Gaetz and co, make it clear that there are a sufficient number of Dems willing to work with him so they’d better get in line or be sidelined.

This is what Scarborough said this morning that they should do. He said they did this when he was in congress. His quote was something like - figure this out or we will make a coalition and run over you. It is in the video I posted above.

Their biggest problem is there's nothing the GOP leadership - whatever that means - can use against those whack jobs as leverage in exchange for cooperation. You can take them off every committee and consign them to the back bench and they'll just sit back there throwing bombs...happily. The only power they really care about is the power to spew their BS on tv and the power to tear everything down. They WELCOME the prospect of shutting the govt down and they don't care if they get blamed because the people who keep voting them into office are f'n morans.

BINGO!

The MAGA crew (Gaetz, MTG, Boebert, Jordan, etc) don't actually want any policy or anything. They just want chaos. They are truly anarchists who believe the "deep state" is trying to get them. And that's what 30% of this country believes as well. The GOP needs to get their shit together and get back to the party they once were. I bet even Republican stalwarts like @goldmom would agree with that.

The MAGAts didn't exist in Joe's time in Congress. The GOP representatives today who could make such a deal are scared to death of being primaried because they choose to govern.

Look no further than Israel, to see what happens when you put demagogues and incompetent sycophants into the key positions within your government....

Repost this if you want

Yep , Gaetz is a pig in slop with all of the attention he's getting.

And to do that they have to forcefully repudiate Trump and they have to repudiate the MAGAs...and they have to win their party's next nomination. And they have to do that knowing they might well be handing their seat over to a Democrat because their idiot base stays home. They have to amputate the extremist wingnuts from the GOP. If that's the entire 30%, so be it ( I can't imagine it is). The "new" GOP will have to moderate pretty much everything to pull independents.

They won't do any of that.
