*****MAGA in disarray, who will be speaker of the House***** McCarthy REMOVED! Jim Jordan 0-3. Election denier Mike Johnson confirmed. Vote them out

Not to pick a nit, as I appreciate your hard work in the thread, but Democrats voted for the candidate of their choice, Jeffries, there was never a yes/no vote to "remove" McCarthy.
Nope. The vote was yes/no on vacate.

Another vote today please

As of now it is a go. Apparently more "NO" votes coming down the pipeline. Doesn't seem the threats and strong arming within his own party is the way to achieve "unity". What a dumbfvck.

Yesterday 199 Republicans thought this creep should be Speaker. 2nd in line to the Presidency. People/voters have to be aware of this.

Gym's problem is he doesn't have the connections Kevin McCarthy did to financings. Those threats are empty unless he actually becomes Speaker. Gym isn't smart enough to understand how this works evidently.

Lawler is whistling in the wind. There is no "compromise within the conference" that will allow them to govern. Period. They have a group of individuals who aren't the least bit interested in governing. The GOP is either willing to reach across the aisle - which necessitates kicking the wingnuts to the curb - to establish a governing (and governable) bipartisan group or it isn't.

Right now, at this second, if I were laying betting odds on the next speaker it would be Kevin as the favorite. Gaetz will say it was a healthy process in reevaluating leadership.
Somehow I think it ends up being McHenry in that role.

The problem is that doesn't solve their problem. Gaetz and Co. will still insist on legislation that has no prayer in the Senate. And as soon as whoever-is-Speaker brings bipartisan, negotiated legislation to the floor that excludes their wingnut demands, we go through this whole circus again.

And this is my main contention with the MAGA wingnuts. They literally have no clue how government works. They don't understand that they have no leverage. They are basically toddlers in the political world with insults and temper tantrums being their only recourse.

I don't think they are all fascists but I do think they are all some combination of cowards or idiots. I mean come on, they let Donald freaking Trump take over their party like a mafia boss. And they are terrified of him and his cult. You do see that, right?
Agree with that...

That's a big enough indictment IMO.

No need to exaggerate the F out of it though. The end of democracy/fascist schtick is getting tiresome.

I mean it could lead to some serious issues. Especially if they continue to believe that every time they lose an election, it was rigged by the other side. I mean several members of Congress truly believe that Trump won in 2020. They literally attempted to stop an election and were somewhat close.

Imagine if Trump gets Jim Jordan to be his VP pick (I think that's his most likely choice btw) and by some miracle wins in 2024. Jordan won't do what Pence did. He will actually help Trump to decertify an election.

It's not as far fetched when you have a cult. Which is what I believe this Trump "movement" to be. But I'm open to what you might think.

Can you imagine what it would have been like on January 6th if someone like Jordan or Gaetz were the speaker. I'm not sure if they would have ever gotten the votes certified. Something like that would be the end of democracy as we know it.

Here you go, fixed this for you,.. your's wasn't scary enough.
Listen I hope you are right and we are over reacting, but I bet 3 years ago you wouldn't have thought a bunch of Trump supporters would take over the Capitol in an attempt to stop the certification of votes.

That'd be really bad no doubt...doesn't look like that will happen thankfully. Most of the R caucus hate Gaetz more than the Dems at this point.
