*****MAGA in disarray, who will be speaker of the House***** McCarthy REMOVED! Jim Jordan 0-3. Election denier Mike Johnson confirmed. Vote them out

Basically, just too many stupid people concentrated into a single area at the same time, with a few bad actors sprinkled in,.. Combine that mixture with an inadequate security presence and you have a recipe for disaster.
Stupid people (the entire MAGA movement) just following a group of bad actors is exactly how an authoritarian government starts.

Yep, every Republican is a fascist. 🙄

So tiresome...
Clearly not every single one is. I watch REPUBLICANS constantly denounce what has happened to their party to the point that they will vote Democrat until conservatives end the clownshow.

The people in Congress, who support people who tried to overturn an election, like Jim Jordan, are fascists. People who cowtow to facists are enablers, like Nikki Haley. People, like yourself, who would vote for people who defend and bend the knee to facists are saying that facism isn't a dealbreaker. So yeah, correct. Your bullshit and head in the sand posts are what's tiresome to most on the board.

The problem is that doesn't solve their problem. Gaetz and Co. will still insist on legislation that has no prayer in the Senate. And as soon as whoever-is-Speaker brings bipartisan, negotiated legislation to the floor that excludes their wingnut demands, we go through this whole circus again.
Every house has passed legislation that has no chance in the opposite chamber. That’s the way it works. What’s different now is that this house is absolutely content with their path being the only path. Refusing to compromise at all

I mean it could lead to some serious issues. Especially if they continue to believe that every time they lose an election, it was rigged by the other side. I mean several members of Congress truly believe that Trump won in 2020. They literally attempted to stop an election and were somewhat close.

Imagine if Trump gets Jim Jordan to be his VP pick (I think that's his most likely choice btw) and by some miracle wins in 2024. Jordan won't do what Pence did. He will actually help Trump to decertify an election.

It's not as far fetched when you have a cult. Which is what I believe this Trump "movement" to be. But I'm open to what you might think.
He REFUSES to see this. It's beyond clear what Trump and his minions want. The vast majority of Republicans in Congress have no problem, if it gets to this point, in letting it happen. Liz and Kinzinger are gone. Not sure what others will stand up to it.

Not really, 210 voted to keep McCarthy. 8 of them and 208 D's voted to toss him.

Lets be very clear. The 208 Ds voted for the best, current option to be speaker of the house. The 210 Rs voted for the 5th or 6th best option and 8 Rs voted for a smattering of crazy.

The question you need to answer, why are the 218 Rs not voting for the best person for the job? The Ds seem to be the only ones doing the right thing currently. And they have 0 responsibility to vote for a subpar option.

Agree with that...

That's a big enough indictment IMO.

No need to exaggerate the F out of it though. The end of democracy/fascist schtick is getting tiresome.

A President managed a conspiracy to overturn a presidential election. The fact that a coup to take over the government of the United States doesn't even resonate now is remarkable. Exaggeration/hyperbole? No fcvking way.

Internal disassembly of the House of Representatives by a dedicated political force loyal to that ex-president is obvious. Complicity by the Republican Party within the House ensures the failure. What is the exaggeration?

Define a few. The bad actors numbered into the hundreds to a thousand. The hundreds of cops on duty would say way more than a few.

My rep changed her vote and supported Jordan on the second vote.

She's all over the place...

Fortunately, I think she has stated that she will not run for office again.

One can hope.

I generally like Bins, so I won't pile on too heavily.

But it is quite amusing that the main driver of his weirdly Quixotic gaslighting attempt in this thread centered on how terrible it was "the democrats" participated in McCarthy's downfall because he thought it would imperil Ukraine funding.

Well, a funny thing about that . . .

Turns out, dumping McCarthy and gaining concessions is likely to INCREASE the likelihood of forcing GOP support for ongoing Ukraine funding.

It is probably time for you to admit you were wrong on this, Bins.

Sounds like the latest GOP house meeting did not go well ...

There was also an emotional and heated discussion over the death threats that some GOP lawmakers who oppose Jordan for speaker have faced.

Exiting the meeting, Wisconsin Rep. Mike Gallagher said he was “going to the chapel to pray the rosary.”

“Temperatures are really high in there,” a deflated-looking Gallagher said.
