I don’t see anything “woke” about that, but I can’t say I understand what is commonly meant by “woke” either.

I think two things can be true at the same time: Caitlin Clark got more than just the rookie treatment her first year because she is straight and white. The WNBA (I’m assuming Caitlin is correct about this) was built on the backs of black players and no one really gave a **** before until Caitlin came into the league.

I just don’t know how this is a white privilege thing, though. Professional sports, as an institution, favor who’s going to help get Ws and put butts in seats. I just don’t see white privilege in any of that. Now head coaching and front office positions I get. But team rosters and who makes it, no.

Fans are pretty much sick of the Chiefs and all the calls they get called for them then the calls not called against them when they commit penalties. It’s like the Chiefs constantly get preferential treatment from the NFL. And I’m a Chiefs fan. People are getting sick of seeing Mahomes be a drama queen for calls and Kelce act like a douche at times. Add in the constant shots of Taylor and now CC22 so there are a combination of things that are turning people off from the Chiefs. People used to celebrate winning teams but that’s no longer the case. People start to hate teams that win too much now.

I am capable of holding more than one thought in my head at a time.

My inital thought was similar to yours - and I texted my son's Taylor Swift and Cailtin Clark loving girlfriend to make sure she saw it and appreciated it (which she did).

But that was immediately followed up by bemusement at the poutrage it would invoke among the mouthtbreather class. And of course, that came to fruition. predictably.
