MAGA - Some children of US Troops overseas will no longer get automatic American citizenship

Trump doesn't just say stupid things, he does stupid things. Trump is like every other stupid person, you're usually not surprised when they do something stupid. The first reaction is, yes, they're stupid enough to do it. So if people react to Trump in that way, that's Trump's fault because he's the idiot. Once Trump stops saying and doing stupid things, maybe people will have a different reaction.

Let me ask you this, if it was reported that Bill Clinton had sex with 10 women, would you be shocked? Would you defend him? Would I defend him? No to all of that. Why, because Bill Clinton has a history of being stupid on that way.
Ridiculously bad comp but if it makes you feel better for believing the story wholecloth have at it. One glance and everyone with a functional non TDD brain knew it was incorrect.
You've been fed so much Trump garbage for 2 years you'll believe anything now without even questioning it. Sad really.

Here's the thing. You are confident that the Trump admin won't use this change - and thank you for pointing out that it IS a change when Cooch and other cons here are trying to say it isn't - you are confident that Team Trump won't deny anyone who would previously have gotten citizenship under the military rules.

I simply don't share that confidence.

I hope you are right, but I worry that it will now be easier - and legal - to deny citizenship to some children of servicemen who are American citizens. And I worry about it for 2 reasons: first because authority like that usually gets used; and second because Trump has repeatedly expressed antipathy toward various minority demographics.

If we were going to make a change, the "good" change would have been to bring State's procedures in line with the military approach.
I've not heard that state department employees children have been denied citizenship, so until that happens, there's no reason to believe military families will be treated any differently, since they're now treated the same as state department employees on this front.

Explain to me how I fell for it?

You are celebrating because the new rule isn’t AS deplorable as we all thought? To me it’s still pretty deplorable.

There is something about this clarification from USCIS that doesn’t smell right. Was the rule written so vaguely out of incompetence or is something else going on?

Lest we forget just a few months ago when the same administration responded to news organizations denying a policy change that led to an increase in family separations when they had actually issued a zero tolerance order.
Derp excuse for derp. Derp's led like sheep.

Freaking dishonest LIBERALS:

U.S. service members and government employees who are not yet themselves U.S. citizens, while abroad, will not be considered as residing in the U.S., changing the way that they potentially receive citizenship. Children who are not U.S. citizens and are adopted by U.S. service members while living abroad will also no longer receive automatic citizenship by living with the U.S. citizen adopted parents.

Any way you cut it it's F'd up. The old policy didn't require fixing.....it's just spiteful IMO.

So you didn't believe the OP? Sorry if I assumed you did. I mean you did post a rather long excuse for why people would.

That was my first post. I was just pointing out that some people may jump to a conclusion because of how idiotic Trump has been.

It's really just to fool his base into thinking he's accomplished something. It's really a joke that they probably spent a lot of time a money on this. I'm sure there were better things to work on, but simple minded people will take this as a win.

I asked this earlier, but none of the Trumpers want to answer. What is the goal of this policy? What is it fixing? Was any thought put into who it would impact, and would that impact be disproportionate to the goal of the policy?

They don’t think things through...

I’d bet this gets reversed pretty quick...it’s a real bad look. Even to his base...
