Maine Removes Trump From Ballot

Weird. It's a factual take.

What you take from it is up to you.

Trump needs to be beaten at the ballot box. These measures that probably get tossed aren't the way to go IMO.
Crazy Filthy Don has already been beaten many times, he loves to lose his shit.

What crimes do you feel should disqualify someone from running for office? If Trump "shot someone in the middle of 5th Ave", we know it wouldn't cost him any votes but should the voters decide his ultimate guilt?

This is how I explained Colorado and Maine's decision to my wife:

Parent: "Son, it's dangerous to play in traffic. You could sustain serious harm, even death."

Child: "But I want to play in traffic! [proceeds to play in traffic despite all the warnings]."

Parent: "That's it. You're grounded. No more traffic for you."

No matter how many times we [the sane public] try to tell Trump supporters he's bad for them, they just won't listen. Now the states will start grounding them one at a time.

These:

Constitutional requirements for presidential candidates

Candidates for president of the United States must meet basic requirements. Learn about the criteria to run for president.
The U.S. Constitution states that the president must:

  • Be a natural-born citizen of the United States

  • Be at least 35 years old

  • Have been a resident of the United States for 14 years
Anyone who meets these requirements can declare their candidacy for president. Once a candidate raises or spends more than $5,000 for their campaign, they must register with the Federal Election Commission. That includes naming a principal campaign committee to raise and spend campaign funds.

He'd be guilty of murder and a felony and would be in jail.

Colorado decision most likely gets tossed.

Maine decision? Might be tossed by Maine SC and if not them probably the USSC.

So....if we end up with a Democrat Colorado SC getting it's decision tossed and the D Attorney General getting her decision tossed. What was gained by going this route?

Even the all D Colarado SC was split 4-3. It's not like there's a consensus on the 14th amendment angle.

Just seems like a questionable route to go IMO and overall might strengthen orange man in the end.

Sounds fascistic.

Parents are the dictators of their household. Really bad analogy.

Being a convicted murderer wouldn't necessarily take him off the ballot, right? You still didn't answer the question about what crime should disqualify a candidate.

I’d say some parts of the party are.Russian friendly . Which includes the leader of the party. Similar to some parts of the Dem party dislike Israeli. There is a lot of parroting of Russian propaganda by influencers and Congressmen.
Doubling down, I see.

It was not. And you really want us to trust your reading of a legal document, Ryan?

The decision was stayed until Jan 4th when it was announced.

The court stayed its decision until Jan. 4, or until the U.S. Supreme Court rules on the case. Colorado officials say the issue must be settled by Jan. 5, the deadline for the state to print its presidential primary ballots.

If SCOTUS follows their own precedent in leaving States alone to manage their state-run election (primaries) processes and interpret their state constitutions, as the Court did with the Gerry-mandering cases and some others, I believe, then they should refuse to take on these cases as well.

A decision by SCOTUS to selectively apply their prior rationale and cherry pick certain cases to benefit Trump will only further undermine their legitimacy.
Several of them are filled with hubris, and simply don't care about their legitimacy. They are the law.

At this point, our democracy is ****ed regardless. Trump has made it abundantly clear he doesn’t believe in democracy and embraces a dictatorship and none of these demented ****s who still worship him care.

Might as well go scorched earth anyway possible. This is a cancer that has severely infected our once great Republic beyond repair.

God damn Trump and each and every single one of his supporters. They can’t die a miserable death soon enough.

Trump is a liar, adulterer, failed businessman, narcissist, non-religious, twice divorced, porn star paying, military disparager, poor people hating, authoritarian lover, etc., etc., etc. He accomplished little beyond tax cuts and SCOTUS noms which any other republican would have done. Outside of that he caused chaos, broke laws, golfed, made fun of those who he didn’t like and constantly played the role of victim which is a big sign of weakness. Yet, a majority of conservatives rally around him and support him still. I just don’t get it. Why would anyone who really is conservative support him?

Thanks, it was already pointed out. I just heard it on the radio on a rock station. Sorry you couldn't keep up with switching accounts back and forth to catch someone else letting me know the exact same thing you said 15 min ago.

I read the legal affidavit this AG filed. If you read page 5, you will see it's only a political stunt on her behalf. This will take a few days to be overturned. The 5th page completely crapped on all laws.
Which words on page 5 are a political stunt? I don't think we read the same document.

Why would anyone who really is conservative support him?
Because at some point, for whatever reason(s), many conservatives decided to start acting like liberals and “getting back” at mean, unhinged dorks on the left became more important than upholding actual conservative values and principles that make our republic actually great.

When libs proposed policies based on feelings, Republicans responded with propping up Donald Trump—the most emotionally unhinged imbecile on the planet.

When it was the libs who couldn’t accept election results without melting down, 2020 Republicans said, “Hold my beer.”

And here we are. The Trump legacy. God bless America.

Ryan, you're really accusing me of having multiple accounts? Now that's funny right there.

What does any of that have to do with whether the Maine Attorney general should be tossing him from the ballot?

Those are great reasons for not voting for the guy though.

I’m all for this if it means Trump won’t be the nominee but why not wait until you know Trump is convicted of a crime before removing him from a ballot? Certainly the left can see the argument from the other side right that this all politically motivated? There are many leftist commentators arguing the same point.

The 14th amendment, section 3 does not require committing a crime in order to be removed.
