MARCH 12 Tournament Selection Show: Jerry Palm/CBS was CORRECT: IOWA was one of First 4 OUT

Hey Franman I understand your concern, I just think we SHOULD be as physically prepared for the next couple of games as anyone we'll play. I would consider tired legs an excuse, because we should not be anymore affected by the conditions then our opponents. It kind of like using the weather in football when both teams played under the same conditions. As stated, playing so many players during the year should help us now, to fight fatigue, foul trouble, or just to replace someone who isn't getting done. I assume if we win, we'd play a team that had a bye today. We might still have an advantage by getting the tourney jitters out of the way, and to get used to the rims, shooting background etc...

yeah, you never know what will happen. If we win today, we play against a more rested Wisky team. But, Iowa has a lot to play for, but Wisky might want revenge. You just have no idea what's gonna happen on these neutral court games.

Iowa has to beat IU today, obviously.

I agree with you. With our deep roster, players should stay somewhat fresh during games. And if someone is struggling, Fran has options.

Its gonna be fun to watch!! 2 weeks ago, at 6-8 in the B1G, we didn't even know if the NIT was a possibility.

Agreed. This young team has honed an edge to its game the last couple of weeks Today should be a great game. I'm not predicting anything as I think Indy will be playing hard, but I don't think we'll come out flat either.

That's what has been so interesting with this team. There have been those games where we were down 8-0 or 9-0. Against IU, we were down 17-4, I believe, at one point, at home.

I just hope we are ready to play and we take it to them. A win would be huge for this team and would make tonight and tomorrow a helluva lotta fun!

All eyes on the early Big Ten game (Illinois), but most of Thursday's bubble action comes later. Iowa, Xavier and Southern Cal are the teams to watch tonight. Rhode Island doesn't play until Friday.

Could also throw in kstate vs Baylor and Vanderbilt vs Texas A & M. Some think Vandy is in but if they lose finish with a mere 17-15 record.

whats crazy is that when looking at the at large teams historically, 14 losses is the most a team has ever had. Crazy to think a 15 loss team from the SEC would be dancing.

Just interesting that without playing and not getting much in terms of "bad losses" from teams ahead that Iowa is moving up in the opinions of people.

Keep in mind that the field has only been at 68 teams for a few years. So when I keep hearing no team has ever done x or y, it's a little misleading as the bubble was several teams smaller up until recently.

good point.

i have heard a couple times from analysts that with the very weak bubble, the selection committee has to choose 68 teams, and some of those teams won't have a traditional win-loss record.

it really opens up an opportunity for Iowa. will they take advantage today? tomorrow? we will find out in a couple hours.

"Andy Bottoms of Assembly Hall, rated the most accurate bracketologist over the past five years, said Thursday will keep Syracuse in his latest NCAA Tournament projection ...barely
Bottoms has Syracuse as a No. 12 seed facing No. 12 Iowa at the 'First Four' in Dayton. The winner would then face No. 5 Cincinnati in Buffalo. I think a lot of Syracuse fans would sign up for that."

Iowa is clearly under consideration based on that conversation. 13 teams for 2-4 spots and iowa is likely ahead of half of those.

just sucks at (a) that Minnesota game got away from us; (2) if we had won, we would have not played until Friday, as the 4 seed; and (c) a Minnesota win for Iowa probably had us in the Big Dance regardless of how we did in the BTT

This Iowa team, with so many freshman, was oh so close....

I still don't see it for Syracuse. I guess we'll find out in a few hours but I don't think they're in now that URI is locked in.

Iowa was one of the first four out of the NCAA Tournament; the #Hawkeyes will earn a No. 1 seed and a home game in the NIT.
