Not sure if this was mentioned anywhere but Singletary from Blair beat Reenan who was previously ranked #2 P4P by FLO in the recruiting and P4P rankings, ahead of Marinelli, but with that loss Marinelli moves up to his rightful ranking IMO. #1 and #2 overall are at 170 right now with Mark Hall and Marinelli. Marinelli has expressed his interest in an interview with FLO I believe about wanting to wrestle Mark Hall sometime after their regular high school seasons are over.

I believe when they last met in fall 2013, the start of their sophomore years, and the score was 5-3 Hall. Marinelli had the chance to tie it late in the cowcatcher position but Hall is phenomenal in defense. I think they have both improved a ton from that meeting a little over 2 years ago, and think this would be a really close match for the #1 overall P4P title.

Hall vs. Marinelli are wrestling March 12 in New Prague MN, in the USA Dream Team vs. MN All Stars. 7:00 pm

Outstanding. Go get 'em, Alex!!!

Shoot -- just checked the location of New Prague, and it's an easy drive from Des Moines. Got excited about heading up for that meet and just remembered it's spring break. Dadgummit!

This will obviously be a very pro-MN, pro-Hall crowd (unless MN high school fans' disdain for Apple Valley leads them to root against him). Would be cool to see a bunch of Hawk fans venture north and cheer Alex on to a big win. I'd be there if we weren't in a warmer climate.

Yep, New Prague High School (Griffin Parrott (Purdue) hometown) easy three hour drive straight up I35. (then 15 miles west) 1000 tickets sold in advance, 1000 sold at the door $10. Elevated mat, two hour fan fest with autographs, should be a good night for wrestling folk!!

These end of season duals are the best thing in high school wrestling. USA vs X and the Dapper Dan are always super exciting with multiple great match ups and usually some surprises.

Metcalf vs Dragon is one of my favorite high school matches ever.

I'll be there to support the Bull!

Good man, joe! Wish I could be there, too. Who else is going up? Whoever makes it, we're counting on you to wear your black and gold and be LOUD! Give Alex a little taste of that Carver-Hawkeye Arena love!

Thanks 4girls for posting! I had not idea about about the dual. I only have about a 40 minute drive from work to New Prague.

Anyone know their respective ages? Is Hall the same age as Marinelli or a year older?

Careful with the stones, WWDM. Bradley will be in the glass house this fall.

I believe Hall is one year older. Marinelli just turned 18. Hall wrestled 7th grade state in Kentucky and was a state runner up, then won a state championship in 7th grade at Apple Valley the following year.

Given how wrestling fans in Minnesota(Gopher fans) treat kids that declare for out of State colleges, it will likely be a pro Alex crowd. While that may serve as motivation for Mark Hall, it should be a great match.

Obviously the list of top Minnesota high school kids attending schools not named Minnesota continues to grow. When Berge declares for the Hawks in the near future, I think that will be the trigger for J to retire. A total house cleaning will be in order and at that point, I think Minnesota will begin the task of becoming relevant again.

Are you saying the Goofs will hire Kevin Jackson to start the rebuilding process?

Since everyone knows my thoughts on ISU and Minnesota wrestling, I am actually interested to see how the dual turns out between the two. I don't know if the rumor is true... but I heard they are filming the next episode of "The Biggest Loser" when the fighting Goofs and ISWho meet up.

Yes, we know your thoughts on ISU & MN.

Because you are just Queso on the days when he is taking his Meds...........:)

Now that young Spencer Lee is back in action I have a feeling Marinelli will be returning to his #3 P4P ranking. What I'd really like to see is how a Senior Marinelli does against a Senior Bo Jordan - now that would be a great match to watch.

Isn't Bo Jordan already wrestling in college or am I missing something here?

Right? Is this guy still around?

Hall apparently was born 1/11/1997. No idea about Marinelli. I got Hall's from the UWW database.

Yes - he is in college now, but he was the star 160 for his dad's program before Marinelli stepped into the spot. Since they were both #1 in the country at the time (although Bo was #2 on some lists for a time behind Chance Marstellar) they were seniors I thought it would be fun to compare which of the two is the better wrestler.

Thank you for clarifying! You had everybody here thinking about college rather than the high school years.

Assuming I'm in-state that weekend, good chance I'll show up to cheer on Alex and Carter. It's about a 1/2 South of my residence.

Mark Hall might not get as much "love" as you think from the Minnesota "faithful". He's not FROM Minnesota and is never going to be. He wrestles for the High School plenty of Minnesotan's love to hate. He also isn't wrestling at the Home State School in College.

Were Marinelli not a hated Hawkeye recruit, there might be a chunk of Minnesota wrestling enthusiasts that would like to see Mr. Hall lose on his send-off to Happy Valley.

Yeah -- you very well could be right, sloe. That's why I mentioned the fans might not be pulling for an Apple Valley guy, as they love to hate on Apple Valley. But no doubt they may root against Hall, individually, as well, since he's pretty much a mercenary without any Minnesota roots to speak of. It will be interesting to see which guy gets more crowd support. It does seem quite conceivable that Alex might have more of the crowd behind him -- but it would be extra cool if there were a bunch of Hawk fans making their presence known.

How cool would a "let's go Hawks" chant be before Carter and Alex wrestle? Come on, Hawk fans -- make it happen!
