Maybe Delany should make the B1G title game optional ...

Just think ... Wisconsin learns they are in the playoff at Number 4, the week before the B1G championship game (like this year.) Since they are in, they have the option to forego the B1G title game, and allow a good Northwestern team to rep the West. That screws the Tide and guarantees a B1G team in the CFP.
Thoughts?

Or let's form a committee that can decide that even though Wisconsin was the best team, Nebraska is better for ratings and should be in the B1G championship game

I think the committee would severely punish Wisconsin for opting out of the B1G championship game (if given the opportunity) and put Bama in regardless, as they should.

It would be pretty much be considered a loss if you opted out of playing.

Haha, don’t try and bring logic into this discussion. OP is on a roll!

Or, take care of business and you don’t have to worry about it. Iowa in 2015.

every team that doesn’t make its CCG should be viewed as if it has another loss to the winner of the CCG. That’s the only way to make it apples to apples comparing them with teams that were REWARDED by playing the CCG. I swear the committeeprotected CCG losers (like Iowa) in the past, so not sure why they abandoned that?

So this year Alabama should have been viewed as 11-2 with losses to Auburn and Georgia and Washington should be viewed as 10-3 with a loss to USC. Stanford or TCU should have made NY6

That would take care of this

I like this idea. If you can’t make your conference finals you shouldn’t be eligible for the national finals.

This playoff system is just a gorified bcs playoff. It ought to be the conference champions who are in the playoff. No committee should be able to select a team that didn't win the championship (tOSU last year) or Alabama this year that should be ranked somewhere behind Auburn. It is all just politics by the committee. I hope that the Conferences get together at their meetings and come up with descions that make conference champions are the only teams that need to be seeded. Then, all there is to decide is what conference gets left out since there are five. The big 12 was't in for a year or two becsause there was no championship game. That eliminated Notre Dame every year unless they affiliate with a conference.

In the NFL... a division champ can host a play off game against a wild card team with a better record because the NFL values division championships... IE 10-6 Jacksonville could win the AFC south...and potentially host an 11-5 Chargers team, if the Raiders won the AFC West. The NFL has a true playoff, and a division and conference championship should be the ticket you have to punch. If the NFL behaved the way CFB does... Dallas and the NY teams, and the Steelers would make the playoffs every year because Greenbay, Seattle, Indy, Jax etc maybe have better records but money always talks the loudest.

I love this idea. Love it.

The committee has shown the past 2 years it doesn't value conference champions. It doesn't value top 25 wins. All it values is losses. They do not want you to lose and I can see why, but the fact your excluding 2 Power 5 conference champs to add a team who didnt' even win their division is a "broken system".

Sorry but if your going to do 4 spots, Power 5 champs get auto bids. If you do not win your conference you should not play in the playoff.

Hate to say it expand to 8. Get everyone a spot at the party with 2/3 at-large spots and have the first round be played mid-December. I would be in favor of cutting a pre-season game to make it happen. No one cares about Wyoming, NTexas, Mercer, and etc. Just get rid of a game and have a 11 game regular season.

If we go with this thinking, the CFP committee will just make the playoffs optional because clearly Bama is top dawg and they can just be awarded the natty each year.
