Good to see them hit the wrestle-backs hard. Reminder of the "good old days".
Yes Gilman blowing it in a bad match was not what we wanted but he got a strong 3rd. Clark then beat the favored guy to make the finals. Kem scored more getting third that if he made the finals, only a freshman. Sorensen was above seed, only loss to the best guy in college wrestling. Brooks was right there near seed at a tough weight. Meyer was on seed, unseeded guys did better than expected. We could end with a champ, 3 thirds, a fourth and 2 rd of twelves.
If Meyer would have just run away for 25 secs. in the quarters we would of had another at least 6th place. Not complaining just saying we were close. Wilcke came close as well.
TntT are great coaches and great for college wrestling as a PSU fan I think Iowa showed more grit and determination than anyone. If someone said before the season you would have lost your HWT and 41 starter and given you this lineup and said that you would get over 90 points and that would include one guy having one arm in the finals I think folks should have been ok. Can imagine the team conversation this morning Gilman after eating his wheaties telling the guys well the haters out there are looking forward to us laying down kemdog , bs and mullet saying well let's go out there and give them a big FU. Hats off guys
