Real Woods / Will Lewan / someone else??

Not sure but a great pipeline to have and build non the less. I know he had a role in Ramos career. No inside info whatsoever, just speculation that maybe something more to the tweet.

Would love Real Woods but he's gotta get more offensive. Biggest critique of Izzy's guys are that they are so good defensively they rely on it.

My guess is that his appearance is related to the report of the Illinois guys in the room yesterday.

Being from Illinois,I have seen numerous high school studs win match after match that were coached by Izzy. I can't count all the nationally ranked kids Izzy has produced. The only one who has really made it on the college scene so far is Ramos and he was a product of Glenbard North High School.

I, of course, don't know why. However, I tend to think it is because he is such a good coach that he can coach his kids technically to beat other kids, but once the coaching catches up in college, the kids can't keep their edge. He really seems to work wonders with the kids he coaches. Stud after stud after stud.

He produces a lot of high school studs and does a great job. The 2nd best coach in Illinois and top 10 in the country. From my perspective, it's that he coaches such a defensive style and game plans so well. Once you get to college you have to be able to score on your own attacks because everyone else is so good as well.

The best coach I think is Jordan and it's that he's wanting his kids to score all the time. Now, like David Taylor said, he doesn't have them scramble enough so they get beat in scrambles in college (which I've noticed with the Bull, his own kids, and Brascetta from VT).

Everyone of those coaches has so many strengths that I feel like I'm being nit picky pointing out weaknesses I see.

You rank him above Strittmatter?

You have to. Strittmatter is a club coach. What you're seeing are his BEST guys, all the time. He has no particular high school he is associated with, so its always easy to say, "That's a young guns guy."

Is he the best club coach? Yep. Same way Bormet was the best club coach when he was running OverTime all those years. It's not fair to compare coaches who coach in-season with a high school team (greater degree of variant talent).

I actually had this conversation with someone a bit ago. I would rank my high school coaches as:

1. Jeff Jordan
2. Jeff Buxton
3. Russ Cozart
4. Greg Urbas

I give Jordan the nod over Buxton because Buxton was playing with a completely different drum-set than anyone else. Both are/have produced on the NCAA level, which gives them a significant bump over Cozart. And Urbas could be debated as the 3, but he's not the "room guy" - so I have to dock him for that.

You are correct. He did say that. Not sure how I miss read the statement. That said, I don't follow these things very closely. Is Martinez a high school coach? Thought he was just a club coach.

He is both. And would be in my top ten of all time coaches. Not sure how many Illinois state championships he has won at Montini, but it's a lot. And his club produces studs for other teams.

Reminds me a little of Apple Valley, until this year with Hall and Gross. For their level of domination, they really weren't translating enough at the next level.

He has won 4 I believe, they had won 10+ before he took over
