Is that Rutgers? Thank you, hadn't seen it anywhere online, including on Rutgers' site and the Flo article. Rutgers still only has the two photos up, so thank you. Hadn't seen any part of the attached offices.

I would hope Iowa's would be far more impressive, looks like five offices and a trainers room, with weight equipment to the sides of the mat.

Sounds like Iowa doesn't have as much office space, but this still wouldn't provide conference room, locker rooms, and all the other things OP listed. This looks like Rutgers is just catching up to Iowa.

Which still isn't good, they are 5th in attendance, shouldn't let them catch up.

No that was supposed to be Ohio State's but they didn't have the money to do it.

PSU, Ohio State, Michigan, and soon to be Rutgers. That list does show you that facilities do not guarantee success. Michigan has probably had the best facilities for 5+ years and they haven't won crap.

And if Iowa had that facility for the last 5 years............

Would we have some recruits we wanted that we don't have right now?

Maybe-- hard to ever prove--but the fact is we are way behind in this area.

Agreed. You never know what will tip the scale in your favor. Need to be the best you can be in every aspect

Michigan has a solid shot at getting in the top 5 next year. However, the holy trinity is Facilities, coaching, and recruiting area IMO or Support, Leadership and natural resources for you management folks. Michigan has great support and financial backing but need an upgrade in coaching. Michigan is a good state for wrestling but not up there with PA, O-H-I-O, Illinois etc...but they are close enough. Also factor in that Michigan is a top public university and pretty tough to get into and has rigorous academics.

I keep on editing: Fact is, we are getting by on our coaches, reputation and tradition which includes fan support. If the administration is happy with top 5's, then there will be no sense of urgency. However, imagine if we did have one of the best facilities? A stand alone complex...shit, I wish they could put housing in there as well but I don't think they could do that.

Michigan needs McFarland to move into an Assistant AD role or similar like Gable and get a big name HC in there. It seems like Hrovat wants to stay on the freestyle side but I think they could do some creative things with their staff to help them out.

I think it was the Covelli Arena that was over budget etc. and to cut costs they merged it with the new wrestling facility. Ohio State is building the new wrestling facility, with the only real change being, it will be attached to Covelli Multi-Sport Arena now.

I had the pleasure of meeting Tom Brands and Kevin Collins today. I got a tour of the facilities and watched a practice. Isaiah Martinez, Delegado, and Zane Richards were in the room with about 40 other guys. Coach Brands is fired up and excited about the possibility of a new facility! I politely asked that no speakers be put in the floors on any new facility. Btw, the coaches have no windows in their offices, which was a complete shock to me.

That's an interesting group to be hanging out in the Iowa wrestling room.

Did you happen to see any HS guys working out in that group? Maybe in the class of 2018-ish age range? ;)

love what you guys are doing here. if i were you i would get a hold of donald trump and see if he would get someone to spearhead the contracting aspect of the project. say what you will but he is a wrestling fan and knows how to cut the red tape which i feel will be your greatest headwind.
Did anyone else LOL at this? I'm hoping it's 100% satire.
