I think tells us exactly what we already knew. There is a chance he’ll play, but not guaranteed.
To me it means he may not even be able to make the trip. The fact that he is practicing but not a captain this week is tell.
To me it says he's fine, but he's not being a team player for one reason or another, and that's why he lost his captain status?Yes, yes...but what is it telling?
Not playing for anything? Wow!It makes me think he's done for the year. He's missed a number of weeks and honestly does it really make sense to put him out there and take more hits and cause more damage. We're not playing for anything and we're already bowl eligible and so stick the walk on out there and let him take the hits.
Not playing for anything? Wow!
That's incredibly disrespectful to the players and coaches that have devoted their lives to their craft
Again, this childish viewpoint. We’re not playing for anything..,

Bowl games in the age of the playoffs are just extra practices. Most of those that are thinking of going pro will opt out, it will be 2's and 3's playing and looking like the Sophomore game before Varsity on Friday nights. Not playing for anything? Wow!

Some folks are just easily offended.I left out the word important. They're basically playing for the fun of the game like every other team that won't be in the playoffs. Teams like Nebr are at least playing to get to a bowl game. I don't consider it disrespectful to state the obvious that there are times when it might not be so important to put players at risk.
And recently, even players have been paid well for plying that craft. As for coaches, well, it's almost legalized theft. Poor babies. Not playing for anything? Wow!

I'm guessing you never played much sportsBowl games in the age of the playoffs are just extra practices. Most of those that are thinking of going pro will opt out, it will be 2's and 3's playing and looking like the Sophomore game before Varsity on Friday nights.
Hats off to the players and coaches, but it is what it is now.
It's all about money now not to many star players that even play in the bowl. Might get injured and all. The love of the game takes second fiddle when cash is involvedI'm guessing you never played much sports

What, exactly, is there to play for beyond the pure thrill of competition? Beating Maryland? LOL Stopping Nebraska. Sure. And, maybe, playing in another meaningless bowl game that at least some players from both teams will not deem worth the risk to participate in? Right.
Oh, and it sure would be sad if the #110-ranked QB in America couldn't play any more. Anyone who thinks Jackson Stratton isn't better than Cade McNamara--in every physical aspect of the game--needs to buy a clue . . . But I wish Captain Cade--er former Capt. Cade--all the best, but he has no business taking another snap.

Ok….then they shouldn’t be broadcast live 🤷♂️
Why? Or are you just wanting to cut off your nose to spite your face?
My point being they are just practicing
Has nothing to do with all the reasons why there is ALWAYS something to play forIt's all about money now not to many star players that even play in the bowl. Might get injured and all. The love of the game takes second fiddle when cash is involved

Aren’t it was supposed to be aren’t and yes I watchBut people like to watch and they're certainly interested to see what the next year might be like. Just think how excited Tenn was after our last bowl game. I'm sure they were dreaming about the future.
I'm not talking about Cade. I'm talking about the the fact that there is ALWAYS something to play for. It's not like the game is being canceled. Whatever happened to "next man in". That's why there are backups.

And you would be wrong ( football - state playoffs all 4yrs and starting OLB Jr/Sr yrs, basketball, track -state in sprint medley, 4x800, and open 800). But get to your point.I'm guessing you never played much sports
Careful, you might be accused of never playing sports by some. It's all about money now not to many star players that even play in the bowl. Might get injured and all. The love of the game takes second fiddle when cash is involved
Ah, participation trophies, now I get where your mindset is. That clears everything up for me.Has nothing to do with all the reasons why there is ALWAYS something to play for
You seem proud of your playing days. And you would be wrong ( football - state playoffs all 4yrs and starting OLB Jr/Sr yrs, basketball, track -state in sprint medley, 4x800, and open 800). But get to your point.
Let’s go out and play with pride on Saturday and beat the fighting Brian Ferentz’s of Maryland! You seem proud of your playing days.
What makes you think that Hawkeye players and coaches don't have pride as well?
Amongst several things, pride is one reason there is ALWAYS something to play for
So the VAST majority of college games shouldn’t be played this weekend or next because they aren’t related to a national championship? What is your criteria for when games should be played? Please be specific. Many sports participants and fans outside of fb are equally interested in this approach. Could be applicable to the private sector economy as well so do tell!Ah, participation trophies, now I get where your mindset is. That clears everything up for me.
And now their future could well be a meaningless bowl game after spending millions on a qb who will be gone soon. College football is no more. But people like to watch and they're certainly interested to see what the next year might be like. Just think how excited Tenn was after our last bowl game. I'm sure they were dreaming about the future.
I think you’re onto something! Actually at this point it’s pointless to play him and regardless of his pride he hasn’t done sheet here at Iowa… too bad as I love the kid and he’s a top notch person but all those injuries early on screwed his career but that’s football 🏈The fact that he is practicing but not a captain this week is tell.
Anything less than reaching the CFP is meaningless? All the conferences and media that promote and televise the remaining games of the regular season schedule laugh at your ignorance.Tons of meaningless college games being played anymore, aught to cancel all games that are not ""playoff"" associated.
Guess you missed my sarcasm.Anything less than reaching the CFP is meaningless? All the conferences and media that promote and televise the remaining games of the regular season schedule laugh at your ignorance.
