Well several of his interceptions weren't necessarily his fault in the Miami game.
That sentence alone spells it was a bad day.

UN has a big advantage against Iowa this year as they have bye week prior to the game. 13 days to rest, recover and prepare vs. 6 days.
Looks like "grasping at straws has begun at Nebby already"! Losers!UN has a big advantage against Iowa this year as they have bye week prior to the game. 13 days to rest, recover and prepare vs. 6 days.
I know being 3-0, despite a bad schedule, is a rarity at Iowa, but some of the comments here are funny.
For a dose of reality, let's get a non-partisan perspective from Sagarin...
According to Sagarin's ratings, after three games:
Nebraska (1-2) is ranked #30.
Iowa (3-0) is ranked #40.
Nebraska's 2 toughest opponents:
BYU is #26
Miami is #35
Iowa's 2 toughest opponents:
Pittsburgh is #52
Iowa St. is #62
Yes, Nebraska lost 2 games on the last play of the game. Those two teams were both considered, according to Sagarin, to be better than Iowa (at this point, anyway).
Meanwhile, Iowa won a game on the last play...at home...against a team ranked #52...
One of you says that Nebraska is the best 1-2 team in the nation, "go over to their board and ask them. " Funny line, But hey, don't ask a Husker fan, ask Sagarin.
Good job on 3-0. Beat North Texas in overtime and I'm sure you'll be talking about a national championship!

UNL's ONLY win is against Southern Alabama. What is their Sagarin ranking?
Nebraska's strength of schedule, which includes South Alabama, is 22. Iowa's is 40.UNL's best win is against Southern Alabama. What is their Sagarin ranking?
The bottom line is that Iowa has won the games they were expected to win. 3-0 is good, but it really doesn't mean a lot yet.

But congrats on beating Pitt and getting goosebumps at a seven-minute iteration of the Johnson County Spelling Bee breaking out to start the fourth quarter. Congrats on shaking the monkey of Paul Rhoads off your back for a year by scoring 14 unanswered late in the fourth quarter to stave off yet another embarrassing loss to Iowa State. Forgive me if I remain unconvinced. Gerry DiNardo can claim the Hawkeyes as the most surprising team in the Big Ten—that's just fine. But it shouldn't be a surprise that Iowa can beat rebuilding Pitt and horse-manure Iowa State: it should be an expectation, regardless of "How bad the last two years were" or whatever. These were games in which Iowa was favored and met expectations. Congrats, Iowa: you're meeting expectations. WHAT A SHOCK.

S Alabama is FBS and went to a bowl last year. Illinois St is an FCS team.

IMO, too early to be impressed, lets wait and see how PITT fares against teams like GT, ND and Miami.@Alum-Ni - why didn't Neb make a run at Narduzzi. I was very impressed with him after watching the Pitt game. Was it more of a timing issue?
Are you a hawk fan or just a husker hater? You seem to have some deep seated issues related to the state to the west. Did your father abandon you as a child to pursue a football career at UNL? Are you Thunder Collins love child? One wonders how long they can hold on to their memories of grandeur. The kids playing for them today weren't even in kindergarten the last time they won a conference championship.

Pelini is a hot head and it seems to me that is where it is going with Narduzzi. When you come out of the locker room talking smack it doesn't scream leadership. It screams confidence but not leadership. I expect when things go south on him, the media will ask some tough questions and you will see why Nebraska didn't want to go down that road again.
Smack being when the sideline reporter said Narduzzi said we knew Iowa wouldn't be able to run on his beast defense and they won't in the second half either. He was right as we did struggle to run the ball, he is confident which is good, but when you go public with that stuff it tells me you wear your emotions on your sleeve. Nebraska just had a guy like that.
Usually wouldn't defend MSU, but the AFA runs funky offensive scheme.Good post. I can see the fear of hiring the same type of coach. I don't think the comparisons are valid. I back this up by comparing the post game press conference. Narduzzi was all class and took on all questions. Narduzzi can work magic with defenses and I think that is what Neb 100% needed for anything else. Interesting to see MSU's fall off on defense this year watching the Air Force game.
I work with a few nebby fans and they all say they are tired of getting blown out in big games, so they are moderately pleased with the season so far, these may be the exception, but not one of them says anything about an NC.Nebby went the "opposite coaching style change" way.
I was driving back to Iowa Saturday morning and got to listen to some pre-game sports show type stuff driving through NE Oklahoma/western Missouri/eastern Kansas. Everything I heard about Mike Riley was he's an aw shucks helping old ladies across the street type (not saying those are bad things at all). A genuine nice guy.
A "polar opposite" hire.
I think Riley's a good coach. I just don't think he's the guy to take them to a national championship. And don't let anybody tell you differently that's not the true goal there. In Husker World, there isn't really a debate on that. That is a LOT of pressure (let alone whether it's truly attainable) for anybody that coaches there after Tom Osborne.
Nebraska was simply looking for somebody who was a class act and would not make an ass of himself and the university (AKA Bo Pelini)....they went the "safe" route and hired Riley, who is a good guy, class act, but a sub par coach......... and by doing so made a huge mistake that will set their program back for years to come.....whats bad for Nebby is good for our HawkeyesI think they were also looking for someone with head coaching experience under their belt.

Nebraska will compete for a division title this year as they will in most years but their fans need to get over thinking they are going to be a national title contender every year. or even a division title winner every year. They are what they are. A good team that will win 8-10 games each year.
You really have heard Nebraska fans who thought we would be a national title contender the last few years? I'm a Nebraska fan who lives here and I haven't heard anyone claim this.
Now that you have that off your chest you can get on with life. That's a lot to carry around day in and day out.The blue blood football program at UNL, lost its first opening game in 29 years, is off to its worst start in 34 years, and has room to belittle Iowa for "being Iowa".
Your players weren't even born when you experienced 5 MNCs. I guess you can walk them by the trophy case and point at them. You haven't sniffed a CC or a top 10 finish in the AP in this millennium.
The "elite" husker football program will likely have nearly the same record as lowly Iowa. Neither are very likely to play in the CC.
Nebby fans always think they can do better, which is good to a certain extent. However; Nebby fans are and may always be stuck in the past and that is their downfall as a fan base and as a program. I think Osborne is the arguably the best college football coach of all time, that being said he really did many things in the morally "grey" area that just can not be done now a days.......the sooner the Nebby fans realize that they are notI don't disagree that they were going after mister nice guy, but I'm sure there was more to it than that. They seem to be under the impression that he will do better at Nebraska than he ever did at Oregon State, and who knows? Maybe he will. Maybe not. They could have also gone after Scott Frost.
All I know is that it is by far the most delusional fan base in the entire country, which is part of the problem in Lincoln.....the entire state is stuck in the past..... I mean I enjoy watching reruns of Saved by the Bell, but I also realize that Zach Morris is not relevant nor is he considered cool anymore....the 90's are long gone and I think it is time to move onYou really have heard Nebraska fans who thought we would be a national title contender the last few years? I'm a Nebraska fan who lives here and I haven't heard anyone claim this.
Nebraska is a land of evil and and discontent. It's disgusting and all who support it are also disgusting. That's not our fault, it's theirs. Are you a hawk fan or just a husker hater?
