Meanwhile, in Nebraska...

@Alum-Ni - why didn't Neb make a run at Narduzzi. I was very impressed with him after watching the Pitt game. Was it more of a timing issue?

I don't know if there was interest in Narduzzi by Nebraska or vice-versa, but what I have heard is that Nebraska really wanted the next coach to be someone who had head-coaching experience. Experience managing all aspects of a team, building a staff, etc. One of the biggest knocks on Pelini was that being a first-time head coach he was in over his head trying to build a staff, and do all the things that a head coach is responsible for besides the in-game, on-field stuff.

The desire to find someone with head coaching experience is probably why Scott Frost was not hired at Nebraska. I think there was serious interest by both sides there, but Frost's lack of head coaching duties was a no-no for Shawn Eichorst and Co.

Nebby fans always think they can do better, which is good to a certain extent. However; Nebby fans are and may always be stuck in the past and that is their downfall as a fan base and as a program. I think Osborne is the arguably the best college football coach of all time, that being said he really did many things in the morally "grey" area that just can not be done now a days.......the sooner the Nebby fans realize that they are not

All I know is that it is by far the most delusional fan base in the entire country, which is part of the problem in Lincoln.....the entire state is stuck in the past..... I mean I enjoy watching reruns of Saved by the Bell, but I also realize that Zach Morris is not relevant nor is he considered cool anymore....the 90's are long gone and I think it is time to move on
You enjoy watching re-runs of saved by the bell? You are just as delusional as the Fusker Fans .... ha

Pelini is a hot head and it seems to me that is where it is going with Narduzzi. When you come out of the locker room talking smack it doesn't scream leadership. It screams confidence but not leadership. I expect when things go south on him, the media will ask some tough questions and you will see why Nebraska didn't want to go down that road again.

Smack being when the sideline reporter said Narduzzi said we knew Iowa wouldn't be able to run on his beast defense and they won't in the second half either. He was right as we did struggle to run the ball, he is confident which is good, but when you go public with that stuff it tells me you wear your emotions on your sleeve. Nebraska just had a guy like that.
Well then, Pat was somewhat.wrong. By the 4th quarter we were starting to run the ball pretty effectively. Go Hawks!

Nebraska will not be a factor in the B1G West now or the near future. The current coach is a 5 or 6 wins a season coach. They are woefully weak on defense and offensively have joiurneymen type running backs that have a hard time getting out of their own way. Put pressure on their Qb and he will turn the ball over. Their recruiting class looks just like more of the same ho hum. As the season goes on We can expect them to wear down and probably quit, at any rate this is a year Iowa can go into Lincoln and win by 5 or 6 touchdowns.

They will be looking for a new HC within a couple of years, fanbase lives in the past and can't accept reality.

Great post and hard to disagree with any of it, except that while we are fast on offense I don't know if we have the speed differential to make it a 5 or 6 touchdown win- that's a LOT of points. They do turn the ball over a lot though so maybe. My guess is the Hawks will be favored by 7-10 and honestly I would be happy with any win, unless we need style points for the playoff (and if we are that good we'll name the score).

During the post game press conference Coach Reilly was asked where does the team now go with a 1-2 start to which Reiily replied "I've started off 1-2 many times in my career and have all the confidence in the world that we can reel off 5 or 6 more wins this year."

This seems like a good time to ask, where have all the KF haters been the past three weeks? Will they crawl out of their hiding places when/if the hawks eventually lose?

I love technology and social media as the next guy. It's unfortunate though when people use social media to "attack" players, coaches ... heck ... to attack anyone. Right now our society is going through that "newness" of social media... We don't know what to do with it ... so we take selfies ... we FB about what we had for dinner ... we make rude, attacking remarks to or about people we don't know.

Social media has changed who we are - as a society ... Sadly, idiots own smartphones, too.

I'm certainly not convinced he deserves to keep his job. Whoopee, he figured out way late about CJB what those with any sense knew a long time ago. Better late than never I guess. Where have all the Rudock lovers crawled away to?

I believe when Rudock quit on the team most of us quit on him, it's a loyalty thing, KF on the other hand has been completely loyal. Now defend your desire to have Bielema coach hawks.

You never seem to answer any questions to the posts on this board, so I ask again are you a hawk fan or just a fusker hater? If a hawk fan, are you a KF hater?
I'm an Iowa alumni and season ticket holder who has to live among you ignorant, arrogant sonza beeches.

Do you feel better by shitting on Nebraska?

You guys are crapping on the wrong team. We need to crap on Wisconsin.

Really depends on what side of the state you live in...we need to crap on Nebraska over hear in W Iowa...its fun.

Agree but i will admit I loved the mean tweets segment from Jimmy Kimmel

Iowa doesn't dispose of coaches at the drop of a hat like Debbie does. I think Debbie is still paying off coaches from the Solich area. That's what happens when you live in the past.

And nebbie hasn't. WHAT A SHOCK!

It's not like a good portion of the Iowa fan base didn't want to run off KF in the last year or two.....a hefty contract is what kept him in Iowa City.

The thing I find funny is how Nebraska fans twist things. They lose these games then say "A Pelini coached team wouldn't have made that come back...."

Yet, Bo Pelini coached teams had some of the biggest comebacks in Nebraska history. The games at home against Wisconsin and Ohio State. The game last year at Iowa. Some of their biggest comeback wins ever.

It's America, you can live where you want.

My business would be very difficult to move.

Meanwhile I have lobbied Iowa Governor Branstad to annex Omaha. His argument is that such a move would lower the IQ of both states - valid argument IMO.

Yet the border skirmishes continue as Nebraskans are throwing dynamite across the Missouri river at the Iowans and the Iowans are lighting it and throwing it back.

Nebraska will compete for a division title this year as they will in most years but their fans need to get over thinking they are going to be a national title contender every year. or even a division title winner every year. They are what they are. A good team that will win 8-10 games each year.
Reilly is not capable of consistently winning 9 or 10 games a year.

Never saw a polling of 100% of the fanbase so I can't comment on how many wanted Kirk gone. However I can say that Nebraska is a classic example of what happens when the fanbase and Administration adopt the chicken little mentality, coaching staff after coaching staff until nobody with a great winning tradition wants the job because of the unrealistic expectations.

This ^^^^^^.

That's rich, coming from an Iowa fan.
By the way, who is this "Reilly" you speak of?
He's the coach you hired who also hasn't been able to win a conference championship in a decade and a half. Good thing he's nice and young, he'll have his time yet I tell ya.

Don't we (Iowa) have to go to Lincoln yet this year? 3-0 and run your mouths.
Go Hawks, one week at a time.

Since when did trying to win a conference championship and being competitive (not necessarily always winning) against upper-tier teams become unrealistic?

I know a lot of you think all Husker fans expect "national title or bust" but that simply is not true.

You must not listen to those morons on 1620 in Omaha. They still talk about running the table in the B1G making the conference championship game and winning.
