Meet the new head of Iowa public schools

If you are fine with our best and brightest leaving the state......good for you?
lol. Just because they got a college degree does not at all mean they are the best and brightest.

Plus the article doesn’t mention at all why type of degree these people are getting. I’m around college students all day. Some are dumber then a box of rocks.

Based on the bad attitudes seen from some educators on this site, this may be a good thing.
Bad attitudes from educators is just normal, but I cut them some slack. They put up with kids all day and can never say what they really think in real life. Among adults and close friends they can finally let loose. Make it anonymous and put them on the internet?? Look out!

I couldn't do what they do.

Why not move to another career then?

Shes fantastic.
Culver was the worst in my lifetime and reason I left.
What about her makes her fantastic? The chaos? The school voucher giveaway that can't be paid for? How'd privatizing Medicare go for her? She's an idiot.

As a whole, those with college degrees are smarter than those who don't have a degree. It's not even close.

The left sure has their messaging marching orders down.

"former Trump administration official" seems to be the buzz phrase of the day.
Is it accurate?
A Trump/DeVos appointee/devotee might well be a point of concern for those who are invested in public education.
It’s a legit concern. Iowans need to get their government back into balance, soon.

Looks like she's done a good job during covid and also with the budget/taxes.
School vouchers are a great payback for the state vs the public teachers unions.
Medicare is a disaster almost everywhere and getting ready to be even more of a mess with Slow Joes group gutting payments vs inflation.

I could write a novel on the things I have seen. The latest chapter is our district pays the gas mileage for a parent to drive her kid to school after he was banned from riding a school bus. Multiple incidents including choking the bus driver and assaulting other students. The craziest family dynamics I have ever heard of and they have sued the district multiple times. They currently are being described as "untouchable".

Yeah, we have seen some shit and we most definitely let loose so people understand what kinds of lunacy is out there that we deal with...because eventually this lunacy grows up and the general public deals with them.

You are beyond an ignorant voter. Whatever that is, it's you. Vouchers are a grift, but you LOVE grifters.

Ok. The same can be said of a Biden/Cardona "appointee/devotee".

Which “teacher unions” in Iowa give you problems? Teacher unions gave NO power in Iowa. They are nothing more than an advisory board to school boards. So dog boy, what in particular is your beef with these “out of control” teacher unions? What we have is an out of control Governor and Legislature..

McKenzie Snow was brought to Iowa for one reason, and one reason only.

She is tasked with dismantling the AEA and shifting that $$$ to the Dept of Education to fund the voucher program.

That's it!

It's likely a three year plan, because that's when the State budget blows up!

Maybe and maybe not. I feel like a lot of people with a college degree would not be able to survive on their own out in the wild. Does that make them smart?
There is also a huge difference between street smarts and book smarts.

In my 40+years on this earth I have probably needed much more attention from people in trades than 4 year college graduates.
Plus a large amount of my food comes from farmers that probably don’t have a degree. But I’ll call that a wash as the places that food goes to probably have some food nutrition majors working there. But then again those factories probably have a lot of people without degrees.

Plus as I mentioned earlier. You have no idea what degree the people moving away from iowa have.
We could be keeping all the lawyers, doctors, engineers etc in state and all the liberal arts, marketing and so on degrees are heading out of state.

This article about college graduates moving to other states proves absolutely nothing. Another thing I mentioned last time this crappy article was brought ups is they might move away for a few years to experience big city life and then end up moving back to Iowa.

One more tidbit regarding Dim Kim's attack on education and the AEA...

Last summer/fall, Reynolds approached a dozen or so Superintendents from Okobiji to Des Moines to other corners of the State. She had a detailed list of the salaries of various AEA administrators and her comment to them..."These people have a higher salary than you and I".
Subsequently, a couple agreed with her and those were the ones that spoke on her behalf at the "hearings" this spring in front of legislators.
A big part of her approach has always been about education administrators and them making more than her.
BTW...the only reason this was leaked was a few of the Supts informed AEA officials of what happened.

And?

Such salaries are a valid concern.

Same kid was just on the run and in the gym while I had 6th graders. Again, he's untouchable. 2 women trying to contain him and coax him out. I watched him act like he was going to hit one of them in the head with an ab roller. I just watched my students shaking my head, because I don't want to get fired over that kid. If he had hit her or started breaking my stuff then I would have scooped him up. That's a line.

Such behavior is deplorable and I wish schools were able to deal with these situations more effectively.

But is it appropriate for you to be publicly disclosing this information?

Based on your handle it appears that you are an fsu fan. Are you an fsu fan living in iowa? If not, it seems you might be more involved with a cult as you are backing up other liberals bitching about the iowa governor when you might not even live here or know anything about living here.

I'm a FSU alumni and I've been here far longer than you...I don't have to live there to know she's a piece of shit MAGA

You're in a cult also, please seek help
