Mekhi Sargent is a proven college RB, Brock not.

What a silly discussion. The truth is its all potential at this point. Some 4 stars bust, and some 2 stars end up All Americans...like David Montgomery.

Iowa wanted Brock, pressured him to commit before he was ready and when he wouldn't they canceled his visit and went with Goodson. There's just not that much mystery here. From reports I'm hearing/reading, Brock has been an ISU lean for quite some time...though NW actually made a real run at him thanks to Ayeni.

How convenient for you we'll never know if Brock would have still chose ISU over Iowa or Notre Dame since he had an offer from neither on decision day. Have already heard clown fans say they got him over Iowa and ND...that's simply false!

Who cares what happened. The facts are that Iowa had room for one back and they took Goodson. ISU got a couple good backs. Both schools and fans should be happy. The bickering of HS kids is just dumb. No on even knows how good this kids will be till the see the college football field.

And for the record, that's exactly what Campbell SHOULD do - emulate Iowa. There is no way Iowa State is going to "out-B12 the B12", but if they played more of a power football style they'd be a bit different than the rest of the conference and would fit more of their recruiting base for lineman. For the record, I think this is what they're doing.
Iowa State runs a Power Spread Offense.

If Iowa was truly pressuring Brock, canceling his official visit makes no sense at all. It would have been the ideal opportunity to full court press him.

The reality is, Iowa cancelled his visit b/c Sargent and Goodson committed and they no longer had room for Brock.

The reports I have heard said Brock wanted to be a Jedi, but the force wasn't with him. ;)

Couldn't help but notice goldandbold is radio silent after a mod asked him for a source. Bold strategy to make up your own quote.

"a little better and more advanced competition than high school" lol at this.
Most JUCO schools aren't chock full of D1 recruits. Places like IWCC and EMCC are the exception, not the norm. On 247, there were only 247 JUCO players even rated (2-5 Stars) this past season, and that's spread across almost 70 schools.

The large majority of their rosters are filled by D3/D2 level guys who either didn't have the grades or money, or are holding out for something better. Couple that with an extremely high rate of roster turnover, and what results is somewhat better, but not leagues better, football.

That is definitely not leagues better. Throw in the D2 kids and it is a size able difference

How does that compare to a dude that played at an 8A School in Florida, and a 4A School in Utah? A kid that as a Sophomore in Florida ran for 1,011 yards and 14 TDs. As a JR in Florida ran for 2,116 and 32 TDs while leading his team to a State Championship. After moving to Utah he became a triple option QB and rushed for an additional 1,788 yards and 23 TDs while averaging 12.7 ypc on the way to a Utah State Title?

Who is that?

What will be glorious is when we pound them for the 4th year in a row. To me this fall's game just seems like it will be when where everyone thinks it will be close but Iowa takes over and rolls. Any Clone fan that says Clones will win ask them how much $? Watch them back track faster than your kids when it is time to clean their rooms.

I think you’re right here, although I’m sure the Cyclones will be more pass-centric than the Hawkeyes. Otherwise, Campbell has been recruiting all of these rangy fast wide receivers for no reason.

One reason for Kansas State’s successful run is that they have been a power running team, which is an outlier in the Big 12.

Iowa intentionally took him instead of Brock. The results in division 1 college football remain to be seen, but a few posters seem to be implying that Iowa lost out on a player they seem to have made the decision not to take. Am I missing something???????
They made the decision "Not to take" the player, but evidence shows they weren't going to be chosen by said player anyway. It appears that the JC kid and GA prep are good alternatives.

I have ties ALL over the football community. Alvarez,Stoops, Mac are all good friends and have been at my home many times.
It is always nice to have friends in high places. I am doing some reading into Mehki and cannot find that article. Normally by right clicking you can get to the source of the article but with yours I am not able to do that. I like to add things like that to the Twitter thread so people can read them when they have a few minutes. TIA.

Iowa has seen better sets of wr's in the BIG. And I think ISU's are decent.

btw, Lazard was rangy but not fast.

I'm excited about having this kid on the field. He is from Florida, played against some of the best Florida has to offer and then became first-team All-Juco ... That's not a bad resume. Of course, nobody knows how a high school/Juco kid's game will translate to the big stage but on paper, I like what I see. More important, the Iowa coaches liked what they saw.
