Michigan boosters offering $10M in NIL to the Top Quarterback in the 2025 class

someone needs to convince the Moon family to donate to the Swarm instead of the U of I
Just like what I mentioned about the other "celebrities", would that really be the best use of their millions, to pay high school players to come to Iowa to play football. I love Hawkeye sports as much as most reasonable people. But does anyone think its time for a reset on just where are priorities are? Just something to think about.....

Texas A&M has already experienced the bad investment phenomenon. In 2022 they brought in the #1 recruiting class and had a high "payroll," but wound up 5-7 and lost several guys to transfer. Last year they finished 7-6. They're now spending big bucks on Jimbo Fisher's buyout and on the players, but at least have a solid 7-2 season going and an outside shot at the playoff with one the SEC's easiest schedules.

College sports are so much fun now! ;)

Most of these kids aren't even worth that much, and they haven't even played a single snap. They could be total bums in college for all anyone knows. And without any kind of contract, he could transfer whenever he wanted and take some of that money with him.

College Football has turned into a farce.

This has nothing to do with ME. Take a freaking poll and see how many "fans" want to pay kids to play football out of their own pockets. This is ridiculous. WE already pay ALL the bills. Let the companies and Universities who have collected these millions pay players if its that important. And NO I don't care if it means we don't compete with OSU, Texas, Oregon, USC, Michigan either. We've been playing college football for how long 130-140 years. MAYBE 5 -10 have we ever REALLY competed for more the a close call every 10-15 years. This crap is only going to widen the gap, and the sooner the next teir teams realize that the better off they will be. Let the cash cows play each other twice a year like NFL teams do, and see how the bottom half like losing 4-5 games a year....
You’re right, it’s not about you, nor me, nor anyone in particular. It is about the market. In the organization’s evaluation, if they can raise more revenue, by better price yielding per demand, then they’ll do it. If they find they can’t, or it needs to be a more limited price yield, then they’ll go one of those directions.

I do think if this is the direction of college football, the University should be allowed to share the foundation donor list with the collective to ensure maximum exposure and efficiently market to known, and motivated, University donors that are not the “known benefactors.”

This is all so new. I’m certain there are folks in the CFB landscape performing ROIs on player outlays. Over time, there will be enough data to determine market pricing for player roles. The highest performers will always have demand on their side, but when you consider most players’ statistical chances of playing pro ball, it’s really not predominant.

I think they had checks bounce, no?

We saw a similar NIL deal last year. Tennessee’s QB, Nico Iamaleava, was the #2 overall prospect in the 2023 class. Iamaleava signed an NIL contract worth approximately $8 million with Spyre Sports, a collective that represents University of Tennessee athletes.

A 5-star, highly ranked QB like Iamaleava can potentially really change things. We have seen that with Tennessee this year; the Vols are 8-1 and currently ranked #7 in the country.

Iamaleava’s stats in 9 games:

144-221 (65%)

1,879 yards

11 TDs

4 INTs

He also has 215 yards and 1 TD rushing.

Tenn. will Probably lose at Georgia this week. If they play in the SEC title game, could well lose another one. Will 3 losses get them in the playoffs? Probably not. How much is a 10-3 season worth?

I just find it interesting how schools like Tennessee have such wealthy boosters who are willing to pay one player so much money.

I agree with you; is the "investment" worth it? To some, it appears to be.
